Tess we were there in March, took a $9 p.p. cab from the ship and just walked in. Others have done the same. All beaches are public, theirs included. We plunked ourselves in a lounger, ordered drinks, and had a nice afternoon. You can sit at the pool too. A cruiser on another ship was told by the conceirge to just walk in, which she did (DH was golfing) and she had a great afternoon. Here's the link to our pictures of the place (+ Barbados):
