train from Quebec to Montreal

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Looking for some help please.:)

Our cruise (Explorer) ends in Quebec City. We arrive on the 18 of Sept. and disembark on the 19th. Can I "catch" the VIA train to Montreal at 7:45 AM on the morning of the 19th. Can you leave the ship early since we arrive there the night before ? Or does immigration not get there until later ? What would the earlest that you think I could be at the train station ?

Thank you for the help. I am trying to get airfare out of Montreal, later that day. :)

Thanks

Frank

You should be cleared at the first Canadian port of entry

so if you can get to the train station on time you should be fine

I would arrange a taxi the day before to be there early in the morning

I am not sure how far the train station is from the port in Quebec city so best check ahead of time

Could you not get a flight from YQB to where you need to go??

You should be cleared at the first Canadian port of entry. Does this mean I can get right off the ship as early as the ship will let me and that I don't have to go thru immigration on the morning of the 19th ?

Hi,

Thanks for the info. Air fare from YQB is about $670 and air from Montreal is $404 +$114(rail fare)=$518. I called Via rail and "he" said the train station in not too far at all from the port.

Good idea about setting up the taxi the day before.

Thanks neighbor..going to Pittsburgh tomorrow, I'll roll down the window and yell hello.:D

later,

Frank

Is that PP or total airfare?

How far are you from ERIE?

I saw flight from YQB to Erie for less but you do have a connection

Hi,

That rate is for the two of us. It too, has a connection

We are 30 miles south of Erie

Where did you see the flight from YQB?

Welcome to my world re: airfares...

The train station is very close to the cruise port - about a 15-20 minute walk over flat terrain, or a 5-minute taxi ride. I doubt you'll have much problem making that train.

That said, while I'm all for train-over-bus, there's actually a direct bus from the same station (well, the separate-but-same-building bus station) to YUL, which costs about $70. Check out the website here: http://www.orleansexpress.com/Search.aspx.
