Randyk47 Posted October 4, 2013 #26 Share Posted October 4, 2013 The "within 24 hours" part of the rule was/is after embarkation not prior to. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app Kind of hard to have a drill before embarkation but so I'm assuming actually sailing or departure is or was the standard. Obviously the Concordia sinking tragedy makes having drills before actual sailing makes the most sense. It also makes some sense to have a drill on the first embarkation day even if the ship, like our Wind cruise, stays docked overnight. While launching lifeboats at the dock might not be an option there should be some notion of what to do and maybe where to go. Of course having personally gone through what was a life threatening emergency I can say the first thing that gets discarded is the emergency plan. 5waldos Posted March 17, 2014 #27 Share Posted March 17, 2014 ...There are often tours available for intransit guests if you wish... Wonder if this is common on the expedition ships? I will have a day in the Solomon Islands and wonder if I should think about what to do with the day or if Silversea will come up with something interesting?
