NCL transfer options from Anchorage to Whittier for cruise

Wife and I have a cruise from Anchorage/Whittier to Vancouver in Sept. We are flying into Anchorage a few days earlier for sightseeing.

I have a few questions as its not real clear on check-in for the cruise. Is this done at the Egan Convention center or in Whittier?

Can we take the train as a transfer if we do this on our own from Anchorage to Whittier? or do we have to do whatever NCL does for the transfer?

Thanks!

The train from Anchorage to Whittier is a fantastic trip. Be sure to pre-purchase your tickets online.

Take a cab from your hotel to the AK RR station where you'll be able to drop off your large pieces of luggage. Those bags are taken by truck to the ship. The station has a small gift shop, too. Once you hear the announcement, board the train and head to Whittier. Once you arrive in Whittier, cross the street to the terminal and check in and go through security. Your luggage will be delivered to your cabin.

If you purchased an NCL package, then you'll have to go with their transfer.
