kimanjo Posted June 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Hi, all. We are wondering what other "things" there are to do in St. Thomas besides the beach (we live in Sarasota, FL and already see lots of it!), water sports (ditto, and dad owns a sailboat) and shopping (we'll wait for St. Maarten). Daughter is asking for mountains or "rain forests" as we don't have much elevation here in Florida...or possibly an old plantation house tour or some suhc item??? Any advice? The Islander Posted June 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2004 Hello, We have no rain forest here on St. Thomas or St. John; both islands are very hilly/mountainous. However, St. John is 3/4ths National Park so how about heading over by ferry to St. John and taking a taxi over to Annaberg Plantation to visit and then get dropped off at maybe Cinnamon Bay for some hiking and another plantation and cool off at the beach. Cinnamon Bay has a plantation, hiking trail and beach all in walking distance from each other. There are no plantation great house tours on St. Thomas or St. John - there is one on St. Croix (which you can't get to easily on a day trip by cruise to St. Thomas). The plantations on St. John are the actual plantation itself... the mill, sugar boiling houses and iron pots...
