turquoise 6 Posted July 9, 2013 Author #276 Share Posted July 9, 2013 it looks like it will be exceptional calm seas all across the the TransAtlantic crossing. There is a tropical storm brewing in the Caribbean:eek: ,and will not affect this crossing. The name is tropical Storm Chantal . We will be watching its path
turquoise 6 Posted July 10, 2013 Author #277 Share Posted July 10, 2013 The QM2 is sailing in exceptional calm North Atlantic . Very nice I notice there seems to be a "push" By QM2 to book the "grills" It is a very subtle sale but its persistent I like Britannia , but I don't like that I have to rationalize this fact to Crew members . My observation , any one have experienced this?:D

turquoise 6 Posted July 12, 2013 Author #283 Share Posted July 12, 2013 (edited) Blue Ribbon has written an informative and interesting log of the July 6, crossing:) it's been an unusually calm crossing , a true pond. The first class Queen G and 2 class Princess G seem to have been booked fully. I noticed on the July 4 Cruise ,every balcony on the Queens G suites above Deck 8 aft was full and being used. The Hot tubs on deck 8 full, and pool standing room only. Edited July 12, 2013 by turquoise

Interesting but disappointed:( I didn't think the Queen Mary 2 did the party cruises . Carnival,NCL do a day at sea from NY,which is about 2 days. once or twice a year. I haven't done them nor will i do them Edited July 18, 2013 by turquoise 6 word change

turquoise 6 Posted July 21, 2013 Author #290 Share Posted July 21, 2013 I can't imagine it. Visions of "lifeBoat" With all due respect to my fellow passengers on Cunard ,or any ship; I made a foolish, untrue statement. I have sailed with Germans, and I have spent time in Hamburg,Germany with my dear close friends. Sometimes I get caught up in the internet frezzy. As far as the movie Lifeboat: Is a vintage Hollywood movie, nothing more. Happy sailing to everyone!! Ich wunsche eine gute Reise.:)

Safe home to you Turquoise, and your fellow passengers sailing back to New York. Man, you were in the right place at the right time: the heat wave in NYC (and most of the US) was really nasty. What a great time to be at sea - hope you all enjoyed your voyage. Cheers from a Sweltering Salacia

turquoise 6 Posted July 31, 2013 Author #295 Share Posted July 31, 2013 I am not on board the QM2 now, but it so easy to see " virtual computer"where, the weather conditions, the wave height, the milage from Brooklyn and the distance to Southampton . great,great... but "virtual Computerization " can't replace a Martini in the Commodore . I'm looking forward to my first crossing on the QM 2 on May 9th 2014, when all three Queens will sail out of Southampton together! :D Is this a common occurrence or am I just lucky to have picked that sailing? Rare BlueRiband Posted August 3, 2013 #298 Share Posted August 3, 2013 The shortest cruise the Queen Mary 2 does is a 5 day?(Halifax,Northern Europe) The shortest QM2 voyage in the States is the July 1-5 NY - Halifax - Boston - NY loop. (It cannot be any shorter than that due to the US PVSA.) I was on it in 2012 and it was filled with vacationing Americans. Because of its popularity, and Cunard doesn't need to make deep price cuts, it will likely continue. It appears to be a win-win. US passengers get to sail QM2 without committing to a long voyage. UK passengers can spend a few days in NY and still travel round trip TA.

It happened twice last year. In June for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and then again on 13th July (I was on the QV that day). The reason for this second coming together was so that photographs of all 3 ships leaving Southampton could be taken in daylight. (In June they left in the dark). There was a helicopter taking photos for an hour. I bought a 2014 calendar on board the QM2 a couple of weeks ago with these photos on it. The May 2014 get together is to celebrate QM2's 10th anniversary.
