Does NYC check soda and water in?

I checked a case of water in NYC. I taped a luggage tag to the top and wrote my cabin number also around the sides and taped the sides a little. The water actually made it to my room before most of my luggage.

If Tampa does not accept checked soda or water then how do you get it on board? Do you carry it as hand luggage

or put it in its own duffel and check that??

In Tampa you have to carry it on yourself. I believe all other ports let you check it with a luggage tag taped to it.

I know NCL lets you bring unlimited soda and water on board. We're thinking about getting a 24 pack of bottled water and a "cube" of canned sodas. Do you know if the soda has to be in plastic bottles or can we check in the case of cans?

You can check it in Miami. I have seen some people check numerous big cases of soda from Costco - 36 packs.
