Is something going on with the Elation? Does someone know???

That was a couple of weeks ago and was just a precaution. I do believe the issue they were having has been resolved.

Figured that is what it was. Carnival even issued a statement saying the tug only was for precautionary measures and I believe them. If I think there would be any major problems I would have cancelled the cruise a long time ago. But it takes more than a tug boat to make me cancel any cruise.

It's been fixed as of the 3-18 sailing. I was just on her from 3-18 for a 5 day cruise. No tug escorted in or out of port.

During the behind the fun tour, I asked the engineer on duty about the incident.

He said that both azipod was working (providing forward thrust) but only one was used for turning and steering so the captain requested the tug as precaution.

Another interesting bit was that they have 6 diesel generator but during the tour. We were doing 15 knots, with 2 generator on, 1 on standby and 3 off (saw this on a console on the bridge).

He also stated that the triumph lost propulsion because the main switchboard that routed the 6600 volt output from the engines were fried hence unable to route the juice from engine to the electric motor or to hotel functions.

So you will find out first :p and come back to tell us. But I do have a feeling its the old news about a tug boat following the Elation up the Mississippi. If it is, old news!

Yep, this was what I had read. PHEWWW:D I was worried! I am glad that it is ok...

Thats interesting information. How do you get to do the behind the scenes tour? Ive been on a few cruises but never done that, just the dining room and restaurant tour.

  • 7 months later...

Does anyone know of age restrictions on the behind the fun tour. I'm wondering if my 6 year old son would find it enjoyable. I would really like to do it. I'm not sure how I would feel about spending 3 hours or more on my last sea day of a 4 night cruise tho. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Sorry....meant to post this on another thread! Not sure how to remove it. Please disregard!
