Seeing crew members from previous cruises?

On our Oasis cruise in 2011, I enjoyed the classical guitar music played by one of the entertainers, a Filipino man, I believe. He was so expressive, so I would try to find him wherever he was playing on board, often evenings in Central Park. Fast-forward to January 2013 and our cruise on AOS--guess who was on board with his guitar! I was so sure it was him and spoke with him during a break. Sure enough, he'd been on Oasis. One evening they turned the sports bar on AOS into a tapas bar, of sorts, and he was to play there. The four of us in our party went down and listened, with practically the whole place to ourselves. It was fantastic, and he kept playing our requests. Such a gentleman!

Isn't he awesome??? He played in the dining room during the evening also! We gave him standing ovations some evenings with many of the sets he was playing!!!

Our inaugural cruise on the Allure....we both were overwhelmed by this large ship in just the few first hours of stepping onboard. I said to my husband when we got to our stateroom.....gee honey this is all nice and brand new but it just doesn't have the feel of the Explorer...and he said I know but it's going to be fine. He knew what I meant...all new crew and so forth and it just didn't have that walk on and you are home feeling. So long story short, we are walking down the steps to muster and out of the corner of my eye I see our favorite waiter from the Explorer that we thought finally retired to Portugal..Victor! He had spotted my husband and came right up to us and shook his hand and said Mr. Dee!! Mrs. Watson how are you? Did you bring your beautiful daughter Mallory with you? At that point I was teary just seeing him as it had been a few years since he had taken care of us. He told us he was in the steakhouse on board that is brazillian. We told him we would find him! So after muster we go to find where this is and can't get in until our last night but that is ok and we requested Victor! Along the week we saw several other Explorer people in the casino also. Now we sail the Adventure of the Seas..have done two b2b and Anthony from the Philipines takes care of us. I can tell you one thing he remembered every name of the folks we sat with for dinner Last year! We also have a couple from the Explorer that are now on the Freedom that we stay in touch with. She is a head waiter! He is in Portofinos. Met them on our second cruise in 2006. Excellent staff and they are family to us and many others that adore the Explorer. It is people like this that take care of us and we take care of them by interaction that builds relationships. You never know when in life your paths will cross. Thanks to Royal Caribbean for all of our great memories and many more to make and the awesome crew members we have come to love and can't wait to see again!

Had the same CD on two different Princess ships. Same corny jokes. I will be on GOS may 10& May 31. Same food same shows but I have MTD on both and will have the advantage on the 2nd one by being able to request a great waiter on the first night.

I haven't experienced meeting our former crew members yet, but I sure would love to. Especially from our cruise on Adventure in 2009. Who knows where they are at now...but like pp said....they don't realize just how special they all are!

I was on the Navigator in 2004 and met a dealer in the casino. She was really friendly and I wound up talking to her quite a bit while playing blackjack or three card poker. Jump forward to Freedom 2009 and I'm walking through the casino the first day and I hear my name called. Turn around and it's that dealer. She remember my name, my buddies name who was also on both cruises, where we were from and that we were both cops when she had met us the first time! It was a most impressive display of incredible memory. I have no idea how she was able to do that when you consider the tens of thousands of people she would have met doing that job.

I just have visions of a very large room on every ship that has each passengers name and picture along with a list of what every employee has talked to them about on past cruises. Of course I know that isn't true but how do they remember people? It just amazes me.

This is a cool thread. I have mostly run into different waitstaff on different cruises. I think it's pretty impressive when a cruise staff remembers a passenger from a previous cruise.

My DD & I were on EOS cruise last May. The Assistant CD, Leigh remembered my DD from a previous cruise. She had talked to him about wanting to work for RCI after she graduated from college. So cool!
