Rare Colin_Cameron Posted June 15, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2005 Hi, I would suggest taking the ferry across to Hythe. You will get some close ups as you sail past QM2 and you can then watch from the end of Hyth Pier. Regards, Colin.
Mickb Posted June 15, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2005 Another good vantage point is the spit of land at Calshot, where the ship makes a 90 degree starboard turn as she heads over towards the Isle of Wight. Its about half an hour's drive from Southampton - head west and follow signs for Fawley/Calshot.

Mickb Posted June 17, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 17, 2005 Its on the mainland by the watersports centre. If you want to get the ship leaving the dock, then Hythe pier is the place - if you want to get her underweigh though from further away then I should have though Calshot was the place.
