Vanilla in Mexico

If you are a gourmet vanilla snob and demand only the best, then the huge bottles of Mexican vanilla may not be for you. But for everyday cooks who value a bargain I think the Mexican vanilla is one of the true saving opportunities.

 

DW always buys a few bottles for us and a few as gifts for her friends. She gets them in the first gift shop on the left as you come off the pier in Cozumel.

Here's a pic of Vanilla I picked up in Cancun last month.

Always bring some back. Look for label saying

no coumarin...or coumarin free.

 

The beans will find a new home in a pint of vodka.

yes, for a tiny bottle

Tiny bottle...perhaps in your opinion....I don't think 16ozs. @ $7.00 is a bad price also considering I can just go to my local Costco without having to book a cruise to Mexico :rolleyes:

just remember any Real 100% Vanilla will ALWAYS come in a glass bottle, never in plastic.
