Recent Glory/Freedom cruisers (smoking question)?

Recommended Posts

We are looking into cruising on the Glory or Freedom for spring break next year. My husband and I are both smokers. We enjoy playing cards out on the lido deck while the kids are in Circle C. On the 2.0 upgraded ships you are no longer allowed to smoke on the Lido Deck but have to go up to deck 10. Are there tables and chairs and a covered area available to play cards on these ships or are we just SOL? Thanks in advance!

We are not smokers, but last week on the Glory we did notice a smoking area on deck 10. It was covered and there were very nice wicker chairs with cushions and a few small tables. There were two seating arrangements, maybe 10 chairs in one and 6 in the other (from memory). We saw people playing cards and smoking there. I did not notice any smoking on deck 9.

Hope this helps!

We were just on the Freedom in July.

Now, on most of the other ships smoking was only allowed on decks 10 or 11 starboard side. On the Freedom I was very surprised to see that they still allowed smoking on 9 starboard, ashtrays on the tables & bar. It was kinda nice to still be able to sit at a bar to have a drink & a smoke. Of course you can still sit at a couple of the seats in the casino & smoke as well as the cigar lounge or on your balcony.

On the Glory the smoking has been moved up to deck 10, this happens when the ship receives the 2.0 dry dock. As the other poster mentioned there are several nice wicker chairs up there just past the midship elevators. They are next to the windows of the steakhouse, under the overhang of the sports deck. The tables are VERY small. Similar to the small square lawn tables people place between their plastic lawn chairs, except these are concrete. The smoking area is usually very crowed but I am sure there are times you could play cards there.

On the Freedom – the ship has not received the 2.0 upgrades yet so the smoking area is still on the Lido deck on the starboard side. There are many tables and chairs to sit at and play cards. Personally, I like the set up on the Lido much better. (I am not complaining though – as long as I have a place to smoke I am happy.)

Just am FYI – the Freedom is going into dry dock next year (3/30 – 5/19) and the smoking will most likely be moved to deck 10.

Hubby and I are both smokers as well so I always read posts related to smoking. :p

We always book a balcony so we can smoke with coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. I know some are offended by smoke smell on the balcony so wondered why smoking is allowed on starboard side outside on decks (usually9-10) that they don't restrict smoking to the starboard side only on balcony's.

That way those who absolutely cannot tolerate smoke can be assured they will have a smoke free balcony experience. I feel guilty if someone smells our smoke and are offended.:(

We're sailing on Paradise and do not have a Balcony this cruise. First time on this ship. Can't wait. Will def find the smoking area's and hope we don't have to go to far from room.

Does anyone know if there is a smoking bar on the Paradise?? Besides in the Casino?

Thanks for any info.;)
