Lots of special events and activities leading up to Halloween. They also have the Peabody Essex Museum, not to be missed! idlewood4 Posted June 30, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 30, 2005 Oh year, if you like art, and have already been to the Museum of Fine Arts, try the Isabella Stewart Gardiner museum, or the Harvard museums in Cambridge. Both the Fogg, and the Natural History (glass flowers) are nice stops. There are so many great things to do in the area. If you let me know your particular interests, I can give you some more ideas. She walks you through the neighborhood and stops at all the best shops. Also Walking Tours of Historic Boston at walkingboston.com with a tour guide who's a distant relative of Paul Revere; Boston Art Tours which specialize in visits to the art museums at bostonarttours.com; New England Stepps.com which does Boston and vicinity. Each claims they will do a specialized tour for small groups. Not sure of what they would charge. Recently, I escorted a long tome cruiseship aqquaintance from Australia around this area for several days. In short, we both LOVED the day spent in and around Salem, but she was horrified at Boston. It's not an easy city to see if you're on a short time budget, additionally it is a city for those capeable of WALKING, or willing to use public transportation. Boston is NOT a city that you can use a private automobile to take yourself from door to door. There is frequent train and bus service to Salem. Enjoy! DONDONMA Posted August 17, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 17, 2005 Whenever we have company visiting us from out of state or out of the country ( hubby is from Bermuda) we go into Boston and take the Trolley Tour. It is lots of fun and the guides are very knowledgable. I have lived here my whole live and am amased as the tidbits of information they know that I don't...........There are several places in the city where you can get on an off all day. We usually start it at the Aquarium. This is not far from the Black Falcon cruise terminal. There is also the Duck tours. They are a lot of fun, my husband encounters them every day. He works for security and parking at Mass General Hospital and when they pass him they "quack" at him. He says they appear to have a lot of fun on them.
