ccsci Posted April 17, 2013 #51 Share Posted April 17, 2013 Kamusta1, Our selection papers said the microphone is extra cost, do you know if we have the sound technician set up the microphone comes with it then? There is a note that the sound technician is for set up only, not for anything else. So, I am not sure if there is a mic or if there are just good speakers. lightskinedgyal Posted April 17, 2013 #53 Share Posted April 17, 2013 I can not believe I forgot to ask that question. I will let you knwo when I find out.Which might not be til I get on board. On the ipod you can set a playlist and it will play in the right order. We are going to bring ipod and cd for back up Hey, So what's you plan to have a cd running done have someone assigned to make sure ur first dance song comes on when needed? I ask RCCL to send me the paper work they send to people who are 45 days away and they did! Lol Anyways the microphone is 50 bucks so maybe you can still add it if you want. I think the price for a dj is crazy so try a see what other brides are doing I don't really think it matters except for the first dance. If I plan out the cd/ iPod properly should be fine. I forgot what you said about the iPod does it work with the system they have? Thanks!
kamusta1 Posted April 17, 2013 #54 Share Posted April 17, 2013 We were never charged an additional fee. We only paid for a the DJ and sound technician. I was under the impression that the microphone would be included with the sound technician fee. Maybe because we didnt plan our reception through Royal Romance, but with the ship directly, costs are different? If you don't me asking how much are they charging for a DJ per hour? -Leo Kamusta1, Our selection papers said the microphone is extra cost, do you know if we have the sound technician set up the microphone comes with it then? It is CRAZY what they want in order to play a CD and I was told bringing a speaker for our ipod is in no way permitted. I was told the ipod works but that is why I am bringing a cd too. I will let you know when I get back. We just thought it was important to have background music going while people ate and if they wanted to dance so it felt like a wedding and not a restaurant. ccsci Posted April 18, 2013 #58 Share Posted April 18, 2013 The DJ is $595 an hour! Its absolutley ridiculous! That is what I would pay here in my home town for an entire wedding evening! How did you get a wedding for the ship without going through Royal romance? Do you work for the cruiseline? How do we contact someone for a $60/hr DJ? ccsci Posted April 18, 2013 #59 Share Posted April 18, 2013 Thanks for the menu. I think that is different than the one I was given last year. Hor' de Orves is served by the hour and you pay by the hour. That is interesting, but also costly at $32/hour per guest. I think I will stick to the lunch buffet and 1 hour extra bar service. More food for two buck more. I am getting excited only 51 days for me, I guess I better order the rest of my oot stuff!
ccsci Posted April 18, 2013 #60 Share Posted April 18, 2013 Can you tell me where on the Allure is the buffet dining? My family is asking me if there is free buffet dining somewhere. The main dining room is not buffet. We are first time cruisers so I am a bit lost when answering anyone's cruise questions.

How did you get a wedding for the ship without going through Royal romance? Do you work for the cruiseline? How do we contact someone for a $60/hr DJ? That is insane. There is no way they should be charging that much. No we dont work for the cruiseline, but a lot of guests and some crew think we do. lol.Our ceremony, 2 hour photography, cake, flowers was planned through Royal Romance. Our wedding reception at Chops, DJ, photographer for the night and throughout the cruise, lighting, dance floor, projector and screen was all through the ship itself. Our travel agent who we used to book everyones cabin got in contact with the ships event planner and they handled everything. If you booked your cabins through the RCCL groups department they would follow the same process. I think because we had our reception not immediately after the ceremony but later in the evening after the ship left port maybe that is why I was able to work with the ship directly and bypass Royal Romance. -Leo

fldogmassage Posted April 20, 2013 Author #69 Share Posted April 20, 2013 Last week I started to get a while new kind of nervous. Writing list after list of what still needs to be done. 3 days before wedding I will be getting my eyebrows thread(found a coupon 0n groupon) 2 days before bikini wax. Now I have had a bikini wax but I decided to go brazilian and I am EXTREMELY scared they offered a discount for first time people with a FL drivers license. the day before....upper lip wax and hair cut and ready to go for the next day. Mani and pedi is scheduled along with all my girls. We are going to a small place that only has 4 nail workers but I love it because we will have the place to ourseleves. It will be my mom and MIL, 4 SIL, sister and 2 niece's. I am going to bring cheese and crackers, fruit tray and maybe wraps along with wine and sparking apple juice for kids and prego SIL. So while one is getting worked on the rest can talk and eat and drink. While we are doing this all the guys are going to go out for lunch and play games at Dave and Busters. Location can change but this is what I though of so far. I am open to suggestions. there will be 3 kids involved. (11, 13, 14) I still need to hit about 3 stores one being the mall. And that includes bra and jewlery shopping. I have tried 2 pieces of jewelry with the dress and I did not like them. I still need lipstick (anyone have a favorite for lasting all day?) fldogmassage Posted April 20, 2013 Author #70 Share Posted April 20, 2013 If it did not involve my 9 month old daughter I was not interested and I am not a party girl or games type of girl. I was not going to do anything but my friends kept asking. As it got closer I decided I do want to celebrate with my friends. So the Sat before the wedding I am hosting a chocolate party at my house. A Rep comes and I picked out 6 diferent items and she does her thing. It was different and at home so I can have my baby. Then the day after I will pull out the suitcases and start throwing in items I will not need during the week.
ccsci Posted April 20, 2013 #71 Share Posted April 20, 2013 Fldomassage, thanks for the list of things to do! Kamatsta1, thanks for the info, now I remember your information about Chops, wish that info was out before I planned and had given out the invites, I might have made that arrangment instead. Shatima, you are so right, this dialog will definitely will help future brides help that we did not have when making decisions between the two cruiselines. Lightskingal, your package gives you photos and ours does NOT, at the end of the day, your package is actually better and your bouquet is much larger! Our bouquet is three small orchids your bouquet is 9 roses! Fldogmassage and I are from the original contracts when RCCL was in the middle of the switch between a contracted company and bringing it in-house. So, we are a getting the short end of the stick! Do I like, NO! But it is what it is. We do have the opportunity to upgrade to the new contract, but as you can see that will now cost us more money, and who is to say that there will actually be 30 photos that I will like. I am using that extra money for the extra hour of bar service. But for future brides, here is what makes the difference, the ships. My fiance said, if we are going to get married on a ship, it should be the biggest ship on the seas with the most amount of shows and amenities. He actually picked the ship. He said people with either want to join us or not. Who could argue with that logic. Its all in what is important to you.
