cruisin blue Posted April 25, 2013 #185 Share Posted April 25, 2013 Carnival Breeze Day 2 by paulmedik, on Flickr As always, a great review, Paul! I love this picture, too. I think Carnival should use this picture for an ad with the slogan, "Do you know what's missing from this picture? YOU!" And the Lido bathroom pics remind of my sister when we were on the Breeze in March. I will never forget walking into the Ladies Room on Lido and my sister exclaiming, "Oh, this is BEAUTIFUL!" Much like you, Liberty was my favorite ship...until Breeze. Thanks for taking me back! :D
mephistoles Posted April 25, 2013 #186 Share Posted April 25, 2013 We had planned a 'Jacks Shack' day in Grand Turk with snorkeling by the ship. Our unscheduled stop in Nassua turned out similar. You will read that there are no beaches within walking distance of the pier at Nassau and that you must go over to Paradise Island if you want chairs, food, etc. You will read it, but the fact is that there are options for a beach, chairs, food, and nearby restooms within easy walking distance and within sight of the pier. Is it the best beach? No. Are the people there friendly and is there a casual atmosphere? You betcha. If you wander off the ship and go in search of said beach, be sure and look for this colorful structure and seek out this fine young man to assist you (He may be a bit under the influence, but he's a nice fella); Carnival Breeze Nassau by paulmedik, on Flickr Given that our taxi ride was totally wasted $, we opted to stroll back to the ship. The only danger in walking that we encountered was a spike strip at the Hilton; Carnival Breeze Nassau by paulmedik, on Flickr Local restaurants were abundant along with world famous establishments; Carnival Breeze Nassau by paulmedik, on Flickr Traffic between the beach and pier was light; Carnival Breeze Nassau by paulmedik, on Flickr Nassua's 'Straw Market' Carnival Breeze Nassau by paulmedik, on Flickr We stopped by DelSol and bought sunglasses and shirts for the boys. Carnival passed out coupons for $5 off and they honored the coupon and since we had two they also gave us a tote bag. The glasses were on sale for $45 each, but they sold us two pair for $45. I attributed the decent price to poor math skills as opposed to bartering because they said all prices are fixed. Carnival Breeze Nassau by paulmedik, on Flickr We also walked to Junkanoo Beach. The kids didn't like it too much because there were a lot of shells in the water. I wish that we had thought to bring water shoes. Also, I remember that McDonald's very well. We stopped there on the way back to the ship and one of the cashiers was very rude to a customer. Everyone except for me had a light meal and by the time we got back near the ship, I almost passed out. Not sure if it was because of the heat or because I really didn't have much to eat before leaving the ship...which was NOT a smart thing to do..d'ohhhh! DH had to get me a slice of pizza from a Sbarro's that was nearby. I'll never do that again! Anyway, we got to see a parade that day and overall had a great time. Loved the Liberty and looking forward to our Breeze cruise in August.

Did you feel safe there? I was there earlier this month. We did find a couple of pieces of glass in the sand. It was not in an area where we were set up at so I didn't worry about it. My kids are older and tend to watch where they walk as opposed to younger kids that don't think about it. It wasn't an issue.

Did you feel safe there? We never really saw any glass but I do remember seeing bottle tops (the twist off type) and some cigarette butts. My son and his cousin did not want to go into the water because there were shells (and perhaps rocks) in it but I think that they would've been better had they wore water shoes. Never felt unsafe or anything.

My husband was able to replace his free (with shipping) twice! Even if you lose them (or want a second pair!). They are really great sunglasses too. One of the best deals going. PaulMedik Posted April 26, 2013 Author #197 Share Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) To the OP or anyone who has been to Junkanoo Beach....I read on other forums that there is glass on that beach. Did you see any? Did you feel safe there? taszmom, I never noticed any glass, but I wore the scuba socks that came with our snorkel gear so I also never noticed any rocks either due to the padding. Yes we did feel safe there and even allowed the boys to walk back to the ship alone; I watched them most of the way via the zoom on my SX50HS camera ;) Better safe than sorry. What do you mean by wanting a second pair? Are you saying lie to them to get something for free that you shouldn't? Boaterette, There are several coupons with the literature that comes with them that includes unlimited lifetime guarantee and free replacement if lost or stolen. While speaking with the clerk, who would not barter on the price, she stated that they replace them if lost 'or if you just want another pair.' She then placed the pair I had tried on in the bag with the shirts and the sunglasses that I had paid for. Without missing a beat she then opened another pair of glasses and placed them in the rack in place of the pair I had tried on. I haven't shopped many times at DelSol, but I will say that the service in this particular store was outstanding; we were greeted upon arrival by one clerk, assisted with sunglasses by another, assisted with TShirts by another clerk that was summoned by the sunglasses clerk, and then checked out with all three clerks gathering our purchases and bagging them. The T Shirt sales clerk also made additional sales by demonstrating the shirts color changing to Karen and making sure she had sizes that appeared appropriate for all of the boys. The clerks acted like they wanted to make the sale and make the sale a good experience for the buyer. They knew where everything was and where to get similar items quickly. It should always be this way, but nowadays it's getting rare. I doubt that DelSol has a policy of giving away free sunglasses, but in our case they gave us a free tote bag (in lieu of the second $5 coupon) and a free pair of sunglasses. Granted they did rack up $$ in additional sales since we stopped in just to get a pair of sunglasses. Edited April 26, 2013 by PaulMedik

I can think of one a little better; Have a picture like the one above and the caption you came up with 'Do You Know What's missing from this picture?' But then have another picture of me sitting in the chair stating 'Nothing,' and have a dynamic date stamp that displays today's date. :D Perhaps not the best for everyone, but it sure would be a nice one for me. Edited April 26, 2013 by PaulMedik
PaulMedik Posted April 26, 2013 Author #199 Share Posted April 26, 2013 Later on we ran in to Kimberly in the casino playing slots after Karen, Byrson, Heather, and I played blackjack. We talked Kimberly into joining us for for some electronic BlackJack and we all played together each evening. Bryson definitely liked being able to play BlackJack though I think I mentioned earlier that he ended up liking roulette (sp?) better. He started with a $5 chip playing roulette and left with $65 in chips.
