........He's taking a commission in the Navy, and Uncle Sam wants him about 5 days after graduation.:(

I really enjoy your reviews, and it has been a lot of fun watching your sons grow up.:cool: BTW, I haven't changed my avatar either. The boys are a lot older now.

NyBumpkin,

I remember when you added that avatar!

If the Navy's age requirements are still relaxed when Britt graduates, I'll be headed there myself. ;)

There was a young lady working this prop taking pictures and she had us all line up and pose. Afterwards I asked if I could use her prop and she said I'd have to wait until I was back on board to see the picture. I said you'd need to turn the prop around a little to get our ship in the background and it was then that she realized we weren't from Majesty of the Seas;

We walked thru the pier area and out onto the street taking in the sights and avoiding tour peddlers that were insistant that we come with them. After walking a couple of blocks we hailed a taxi who took us around the block and dropped us off in sight of where he picked us up. All I requested was to be taken to a beach and I guess he did that, but a beach further out was what I had in mind;

Can you tell that we weren't exactly sure this was what we were looking for?

Beach, water, chairs, food & drinks nearby, ships in sight. What more could we ask for?

Nice view, nice natural sounds of beach surf and birds;

Also a nice backdrop for photos (Which I should have straightened the horizon);

I tried out the snorkeling and it wasn't half bad (Water was cold, but not as cold as Miami);

There wasn't a lot of variety in terms of marine life, but it was abundant nonetheless:

Food and drinks were available right behind our chairs;

The lunch menu included fresh Conch fritters;

The beach area never did get crowded, but the perspective of this picture over the beach back toward the ship may give the impression of crowds, but it was sparse at best;

An occasional sailboat passing by made for even more soothing scenes;

I went snorkeling three times and saw many schools of smaller white fish and only one large fish...that I didn't get a close up of;

Vendors also stolled the beach offering local crafts, hair braiding, and henna tattoos. One young lady identified herself as being from the tourism authority and handed out 'free' trinkets;

I expected she would mention donations or tips, but she moved on to other beach inhabitants and continued to pass out items.

The boys opted to walk back to the ship for lunch so we had four extra chairs. We offered one to this young lady who is a crew member on Carnival Liberty. She's a recent graduate of the 'cruise college' in Cozumel and was excited to be working for Carnival.

As you can tell by Karen's posture, it was a bit cold;

Not exactly 'Grand Turk' close to the ship, but close enough for pics;

Tons and tons of fish;

The beach cleared out quite a bit as crew and passengers headed back to their ships;

This fine young man was our server for the day and kept us supplied with cold drinks and tasty snacks. We also rented our chairs from him for $6 each......I think

We had planned a 'Jacks Shack' day in Grand Turk with snorkeling by the ship. Our unscheduled stop in Nassua turned out similar.

You will read that there are no beaches within walking distance of the pier at Nassau and that you must go over to Paradise Island if you want chairs, food, etc. You will read it, but the fact is that there are options for a beach, chairs, food, and nearby restooms within easy walking distance and within sight of the pier. Is it the best beach? No. Are the people there friendly and is there a casual atmosphere? You betcha. If you wander off the ship and go in search of said beach, be sure and look for this colorful structure and seek out this fine young man to assist you (He may be a bit under the influence, but he's a nice fella);

Given that our taxi ride was totally wasted $, we opted to stroll back to the ship. The only danger in walking that we encountered was a spike strip at the Hilton;

8644434250_e0a583cf3f_b.jpg

Local restaurants were abundant along with world famous establishments;

8643337651_e41b37947f_b.jpg

Carnival Breeze Nassau by paulmedik, on Flickr

Traffic between the beach and pier was light;

Nassua's 'Straw Market'

We stopped by DelSol and bought sunglasses and shirts for the boys. Carnival passed out coupons for $5 off and they honored the coupon and since we had two they also gave us a tote bag. The glasses were on sale for $45 each, but they sold us two pair for $45. I attributed the decent price to poor math skills as opposed to bartering because they said all prices are fixed.

were you at junkaroo beach?

I have a friend going on her first cruise later this year and Key West and Nassau are their ports.

Trying to help her out a little. My best advice was to go on the same ship but the sailing that goes to half moon cay :D

Poptart,

Yes; Junkaroo Beach was the name.

I agree with the Half Moon Cay recommendation! :)

If our time in port had been longer we would have opted for Blue Lagoon, but there wouldn't have been enough time to make it worth the trip. I guess we could have went to Cabbage Beach or elsewhere over on Paradise Island, but Junkaroo filled our needs for the day just fine.

Karen and I ate a late supper up on Lido and believe it or not it was a light supper consisting of salad for me and backed potato and salad for Karen. The Lido Marketplace uses drop down screens instead of trays to indicate it's closed;

Ha Ha, It's always so funny to see a mens restroom:eek: But one of the things I love in the public bathrooms is the little tissues by the door so you don't have to touch the door handle after you wash your hands. I wish all public bathrooms were that clean:)

This ship really looks gorgeous which I can't say for the rest of the fleet. I hated the Farcas decor. It looked like he used the dollar store to decorate. But this one is very classy. AND I'm sure your cameras do it justice. I love looking at your pics. We will be on the Breeze on May 5. Thanks for the tease.

I like the tissues also, they got me to use paper towels whenever I can. I noticed on Serenade of the Seas that they did not have the towels and I was going to use tp when I noticed that they push out instead of pull in so I just used my shoulder to get out.

Great review so far, loving the pics. Keep them coming.
