phdiva Posted April 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2013 Does anyone know what makes this tour "moderate"? One of our party does well walking long distances on flat ground, but doesn't do so well with hills. Alternatively, we could do the Panoramic Island Drive and Confederation Bridge in the hopes of seeing some pretty scenery and snapping a few pictures on that tour. trophy_23 Posted April 22, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Consider renting a car! You will get much better value and PEI is very easy to navigate. We have done it twice now and it gives you the ability to choose where you want to stop and for how long.
maryann ns Posted April 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Absolutely consider renting a car. However if you take a tour, there are very few hills on PEI and I doubt if you will be doing more than walk. From my notes: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1415282 several private tour companieshttp://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1230792 self drive tour, mentions rentals http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1693605 some options described here including companies waiting at the dock. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1704213 mentions several tour operators and bus tour for less than ship’s
phdiva Posted April 22, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Love the links, maryann ns, and the feedback on the PEI terrain. "Very few hills" is what I needed to know.
maryann ns Posted April 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 23, 2013 However, I would be asking the tour company (ship) for details just to be sure.
phdiva Posted April 24, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted April 24, 2013 Of course. Thanks again, Maryann NS and trophy 23. I think we're going to go with the "easy" Panoramic Tour instead of the "moderate" Photography tour. While BF and I would be comfortable renting a car, it's not something we want to try with my dad. Sometimes "Get on the bus, get off the bus" types of tours are the key to everyone having a peaceful, relaxing vacation, even if it means we miss a few sights. maryann ns Posted April 24, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 24, 2013 PEI has beautiful scenery so I am sure you will enjoy the drive. It would be a big help to future visitors if you could report back here about how your day went.
