USA investigating fees for crossing at land borders

Recommended Posts

BELLINGHAM - In an effort to raise more money for border protection and inspection, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security wants Congress to authorize the study of a fee that could be collected from everyone who enters this country at land crossings.

Must be in order to catch up to the $40 you have to pay to enter by air.

Read the same type of article in the online edition of the "Vancouver Sun" this morning given the reaction of many border state legislators I doubt this idea is going to far. It really flies in the face of what Canada & the US have been tying do in terms of expediting the movement of goods and people across the border. But an interesting Sunday read and something to provoke controversy.

As expected a US senate committee quashed this bad idea today. It conjured up visions of CBP officers with coin changers on their belts and credit card machines in hand...."that will US funds only....".
