Busy day at the port of New Orleans

The video portion of the Port of New Orleans webcam has been down for quite some time. You can still get one-minute stills from the website and they are good enough quality that I made a video out of them.

 

 

I used the still pictures you can get here: http://www.portno.com/images/fullsize.jpg

I wrote a script on my computer that used wget to grab the image, then rename it to the current date/timestamp with seconds.

I set up a cron job to run that script every minute.

I then fed all those images into Time-Lapse in the mac app store to make a .mov out of them and imported that into iMovie to add the music. After that I exported it to a video file, uploaded it to youtube, and this was the result.

The best part is it is fairly easily repeatable, and can be automated to the point where the music is attached.
