RealAlexD Posted April 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Hi all, Looking for some help/advice on a few things. First, what is a decent hotel (nothing super cheap, but nothing really expensive either) close to either FLL airport or Sun Life Stadium? There will be 2 couples, and we will be staying 2 nights/1 day before our cruise out of POM. Just looking for something with some restaurant options nearby (preferably walking distance). Also, what is the best option to getting to POM from FLL? Shuttle or a cab? Thanks kindly in advance! Alex
royalcruz Posted April 22, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2013 If you want to stay in Fort Lauderdale, these hotels are moderately priced and walking distance to lots of restaurants: Riverside, Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn Express Convention Center, Hyatt Place Convention Center/17th St, Renaissance, Hilton Marina. (HIE and HP have free shuttles from FLL and breakfast). (valuetrips usually has the best prices on HP). It is much easier to get a shuttle from this part of Fort Lauderdale than from the Sun Life Stadium area. SAS shuttles tend to have the best rates, at $15pp. Taxi rates and private car hire rates tend to be about $80-100 from Fort Lauderdale to POM. Plus there really is nothing to see near Sun Life Stadium (not the best neighborhood) unless you want to gamble at the casino next door.
royalcruz Posted April 22, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Have a look at http://www.byeddymotel.com/ It's a brilliant wee place .. owners are fantastic There isn't a lot for tourists in the immediate area other than Publix, Tiquana Flats, Dunkin Donuts, Walgreens, and Wendys, and it's not in the best part of town (I wouldn't walk around after dark there). I agree, it's a bit dodgy around there.
