  1. The float-out is scheduled for this weekend ... big milestone! The steelwork for ship 2 has been underway since last July. Different sections of the ship are built in other shipyards before being joined together in Genoa.
  2. Other favorite restaurants close by: Serafina: Lovely authentic Italian (Sicilian) restaurant along the Middle River (NE 20th Ave, about 1 block south of Sunrise Blvd) Canyon Southwest Cafe: Next door to Gateway Theater. Check out their website for their daily specials. They have a great daily happy hour from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm and other fun specials during the week. Brgr Stop: Fantastic Burgers!
  3. Love the Area 31 outdoor bar/restaurant on the 16th floor at Epic. The views of the Miami River, Biscayne Bay, and Downtown Miami are spectacular at sunset.
  4. Little tip about SOBE Wine & Food Festival Grand Tasting ... check Craig's List at least 1 week prior to the event. There is usually a number of people selling their tickets below face value. Legit ... we have gone each of the last 3 years and saved approx $50 per ticket. Some people try to sell them outside the event as well.
  5. I would say as long as you're at the pier for check-in by 1:30 pm, you should be fine. I am not sure what time Glory sails, but I believe boarding for most cruise lines closes at least 90 minutes before departure. Perhaps someone else who has experience with the Carnival sailings can answer more accurately.
  6. Cafe Papillon will be open early and is close to the Port. Many true brunch spots do not open until after 11:00 am. http://thecafepapillon.com/menu/
  7. Not a lover of Cuban food, so we usually recommend El Guanaco for Salvadoran food (with some Mexican influence) in Oakland Park. Hole in the wall loved by us locals, and so delicious! https://www.elguanacooaklandpark.com/
  8. On a barge ... 1,200 mile journey from Trieste to Sestri (Genoa).
  9. The hotels I have stayed at: Hyatt on the Bund Westin Bund Radisson Blu (on Nanjing Road at People's Square)
  10. In Coconut Grove, we love Jaguar. http://www.jaguarspot.jaguarhg.com
  11. I have not stayed at the TRYP, but went to a networking event there 2 weeks ago, so I cannot comment on the accommodations, but the lobby and bar was very nice. Self-Parking was a bit of a mess, as the parking lot is very small, but there is valet parking.
  12. Steak 954 at the W Hotel. https://steak954.com/
  13. If you have spare time to do some sight-seeing, then choose a hotel in the city center; all the major hotels have English speaking staff. I have stayed at: Hyatt on the Bund Westin Bund Radisson Blu (at People's Square)
  14. Also check out the Residence Inn by Marriott / Il Lugano. The northernmost water taxi stop is next door at Bokampers.
  15. Check out Lauderdale by the Sea. Lots of Mom and Pop hotels, and in early December, the prices can still be reasonable. Lots of bars and restaurants, and 20 mins from Port Everglades. Sent from my iPad using Forums
