Dolphin Foot Push

Recommended Posts

I have tried the ports page but don't see anything.

Has anyone done the Dophin Foot push in Grand Cayman? Carnival doesn't offer that on the excursions thru them just the swim. They do offer in Cozumel but we have other plans. Any info would be great thanks.

I have no idea what this is, so I'm subscribing to find out when someone answers!

You lay face down in the water and they put the snout of a dolphin on the ball of each foot. You raise your chest slightly and on the signal the dolphins push you by your feet through the water.

I have done it at Discovery Cove and it is the bomb. Definitely worth it.

We did it in Cozumel too... Though it was interesting, I am sure I could have found some better spend for my money. The whole thing was hurry up a d wait... Pose here... Smile here... All for the grand finally "yes sir, we reccomend the deluxe platinum titanium picture package... All yours... Both pictures for 400 dollars..." " no thanks" ... "We'll, how about 60?" What a rip off... Total time actually swimming with the dolphin... Maybe 2 minutes...

We did it in Cozumel at Chankanaab, but not thru Carnival (pd half of what Carnival wanted). Had an amazing experience. The pics were not that pricey. We were in the water a lot and we got to get in the water with other animals while we waited on pics. It was well worth the money we paid. The foot push was part of the Royal swim.

If you get the chance to do it in any other port, I would. In Grand Cayman I love the Stingrays at Stingray City. I think that is my favorite excursion.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but the practice of capturing and imprisoning dolphins for our entertainment is absurdly inhumane, don't propogate it. Read: http://www.wspa-international.org/helping/animalfriendlyliving/captivedolphins.aspx

I had much the same concerns but went along on this excursion, after first plans for a walking tour of Nassau fell through ( passengers robbed on an excursion 2 weeks earlier).

Most of the dolphins they have were born there, not captured. They did seem well cared for & the trainers concerned for their safety - no jewelry etc allowed. It struck me as a fairly decent operation in an industry that has problems.

Good to know...I don't want to be a downer either..and would love to swim with them again...on a cruise because may not be able to do again as a full vacation focus time. This and other first bucket list desires will tell. I had a long wonderful week once with those in the wild and well trained folks. I look at it as some dolphins in "good captivity" situations can be ambassadors in a way...but having the chance to be with them in the wild and not aim to touch but be with them...never ever will forget...indescribable sort of wonderful time in my youth experience.
