We would like to stay 2 nights pre cruise in the French Quarter. I like to use Priceline to get a good deal on a hotel. Our cruise is 3/30/14. When is the best time to bid to get a nice hotel for these 2 nights? Are there multiple zones that can accomplish this?

You can start biding anytime, I usually wait till I'm 3 months away. But is your price is accepted it doesn't matter when you start.

I've bid on hotels with Priceline anywhere from 1 month to 8 months out.

 

Do some research, see what hotels went for this year (during the same week) and that should give you a guide for your bidding. Start low, be patient, and you should end up with a good deal. By accepting a larger area, like Downtown, and the Warehouse district, you can often get better deals.

 

I recently got two hotels for our August trip (one before the cruise, and one after). Both four star, Renaissance's. Price was $61 per night.
