Age of ships? And retirement of older ones

Recommended Posts

RCCL transferred the Monarch out of the fleet and announced a few new ships. NCL has the breakaway and getaway being delivered soon. With a few more behind it.

What's Carnivals history with older ships? Change the name and rebrand it? Retire them?

The breeze is newer, any more announced?

The Fantasy is rumored to be for sale.

Carnival usually transfers them to one of there other lines like P&O Australia or Iberos.

The Holiday as the Iberos Grand Holiday - still has the whale tail.

They have a new build in 2016. When they announced the new build they also announced that they would be getting rid of some of their older ships. Many have assumed they will start with the fantasy since she is the oldest. However when they got rid of the Holiday class. The holiday was the oldest and last to go. So I guess we won't know til it happens. Though I say it will be the fantasy which makes me sad because she is my favorite. It could be a reason why her itinerary hasn't been released yet.

This W page below has a list of the ships and their age and also the past ships that have been retired, scrapped or sold.

If the Fantasy is indeed for sale it is probably true as it is the oldest ship in carnival (built in 1993). It also states the 2016 being the biggest ship for Carnival.
