Trip to Lahaina

I see that The Pride of Aloha have a trip "Lahaina on your own". I was wondering how many hours do you have in Lahaina before the bus brings you back to the ship?

Plan on 45 min-1 hour for the drive each way.

Our two days on Maui were spent on Kanapali Beach and Honolulu Hattie's. Kanapali Beach was a POA excursion, and HH was a free shuttle.

 

In hindsight, I would have preferred to rent a car and drive to Kanapali and then do Lahaina on my own after that. They are neighboring cities an hour away from the dock. The bus trip was boring and just when we got comfy, it was time to go back. The rental car shuttles pick you up right at the dock. Beware: There are no street lights, so get back before sunset.

 

If I remember, the rental cars are about the same price as two round trips tickets to Lahaina (and you are then on your own clock).
