Good Rate?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I love looking at Carnival's website for cheap rates, and lately there have been some awfully tempting rates.

Today, I noticed a "casino rate" for past casino players and there was a 4 day interior room on the Sensation out of Port Canaveral in early November for $139.00pp. I could get a porthole on the Main with all taxes and pre-paid gratuities for $536.66.

Is this a good price or is that typical rates for off season?

Also, I have never sailed in November. I know that's the off season but is there any particular reason that would keep you from sailing during this time? Ports are not that important to me, so if we get re-routed due to weather that is fine, but am wondering if there is anything else I should be concerned about sailing in November?

Thanks in advance for the replies!

Casino rates are among the best ever .. if you qualify I would sure go.

Hurricane season does not end until the end of Nov and Florida has had a bad hurricane in Nov .. but they are more rate by then.

I sure would grab it in a second if I could qualify for casino rates and could drive to the port..

Its a excellent rate.. come on.. thats less than Motel 8 per night.

I don't use the casino and haven't done 4 day cruises, but Carnival prices are generally very low across the board right now, so I wouldn't hesitate to book if you're interested.

I always cruise in November or December because it is so inexpensive. November is the end of hurricane season, but I haven't had any bad luck with weather -- like you, it doesn't matter much to me either. (I might even enjoy a wild ride through storms!)

If that is an Early Saver price, then you can request a price reduction even after you've paid in full -- but be sure you understand the restrictions and rules.

I prefer Port Canaveral, but haven't been there since I was on the Dream.

OP said its casino rate .. which is not early saver rate. But I cant imagine the price going much lower than $139 pp. Thats about the best rate Ive seen on Carnival myself.

Only thing that could be lower would be a even lower casino rate.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it was a "good rate", but wasn't sure if it was a great rate that I should book immediately. I just didn't want to get sucked into doing an unplanned cruise for a so-so rate (if that makes any sense).

I have another quick question. My friend I convinced to go is not 100% sold on going. Since, I can cancel or make changes up to 60 days out, does this also include being able to change the name of the second guest?

I would read the terms. Some rates you can not make any changes. If you see in the small print that you can cancel or make changes until 60 days out that would include your friend... but I would make sure that is what it says.

You could also wait until your friend is sure he wants to go and add him to your solo booking then. Thats what I would do. Unless the ship gets too full (unlikely) you could then add him much later.

Hey neighbor! I live just across the state line from Chattanooga.

I'm pretty sure you can book with the 2nd passenger listed as tba. (to be announced)

We always sail in late October or November. We have usually had really good weather.

Or just book solo as I suggested above, and pay for one add on taxes and fees. Add the 2nd pax later if he makes up his mind, and then you would just pay his add on taxes and fees then.

I wouldnt put TBA .. as the guy might wind up going solo, what then? But thats just me.
