why no eight day cruises?

Why are there no eight day cruises offered on the Royal Caribbean ships? Spoiled on the Carnival ships with the extra day.

Jewel of the Seas offers 8 night cruises. Out of Fort Lauderdale to San Juan, St Maarten, St Thomas, Antigua and Nassua. I went in February and will do the same in November.

Because, RCI, unlike Princess or HAL does not believe in variety of ports-of-call. They cater to the masses. Same intineraries, same ships, same time of year. I love RCI, but I wish they would become more diverse with their itineraries and ships.

Mostly because 7 days means you can have ships sailing on Saturday and Sunday week after week after week. If you do an 8 day itinerary then you are quickly going to get into sailings in the middle of the week. which will affect 2 weeks of peoples work schedules.

it also has alot to do with the speed of the ship. From NYC. The Voyager of the Seas isn't fast enough to do an 8 day. That's why she does 9 day. The Carnival Legend and the Queen Mary 2 are fast enough to do 8 day's from NYC. Also the Norwegian Dawn only goes as far as the Bahamas because it's not fast enough to do a full Caribbean from NYC. I think the Cruise lines do 8 or 9 days from NYC because of how far it is from the Caribbean. I think they would have 7 days if they really could.

Libra, we're going next year. We were booked on the 12/3, but decided to take a trip to Italy & Spain instead (with a 3-day Brilliance included, of course:D ), so we put it off for a year. We just gave up JS 1100, so I think we probably made somebody very happy!

 

I've been trying to register for a Meet & Mingle, and I either get a "date doesn't correspond" or "reservation number is incorrect" message, so I guess they don't take them this far in advance.
