Sail Away Party???

Recommended Posts

Forgive my ignorance but what is a Sail Away Party?

We sailed on the Dream last year and didn´t hear anything about one. Going again in October and would like to know about it this time.

It's when the ship sails away the first night. They have a party on deck (or inside if the weather is bad ) It's usually about 10.30 - 11pm. We've never actually got to one after our first cruise as we are so tired after travelling, we have gone to bed :rolleyes: You haven't far to travel though have you? :D

Thanks Linda - will try to find it this year. Last year we stood on deck as we sailed at 11 p.m. but have been on the wrong deck (typical!). Think by 26 October the party will probably be indoors!

As we travel from mainland Spain - so are not on a Thomson flight - we go out the day before we sail and spend a night in Palma to guarantee arriving in time with no worries if we get a delay. Last year we were enjoying our first drink on board by 10.30 a.m. Plenty of time for a rest in the afternoon then able to stay up for sailing.

Thanks again for the info - very much appreciated. Only 165 days to go!!!

I have seen some film on you tube of Thomson Sailaway parties. Have been to 2 on deck and 1 inside due to rain. You must try to stay awake next time Linda. :D. It's one of the best nights. Last one was a bit chilly on deck so used my pashmina as a scarf.

Trouble is that DH would say "Oooh it's too cold" if there was even a breath of air :D

We went to the one on the Dream last month. The entertainment teams provide the live music, singing and dancing. Many passengers love to dance and the guys and girls from the dance team often get people up to dance with them. Its a good night knowing you have a whole week of cruising in front of you.

Linda - you must do a Sailaway Party - they're great; when we do the cruises in peak summer, they also have a deck party midway through too - do they do that in other seasons?

They do a Beach Party mid cruise but it depends on the weather whether it is inside or out on deck. It's just not the same inside.
