BeachChik Posted May 25, 2013 #627 Share Posted May 25, 2013 John Heald has posted these comments on Facebook: "where oh where did you hear this............oh hold on......I just saw a comment on Dave Metzger's question...........Cruise Critic. What a shocker. Nope, not true. I will let you know when the resort pool will open but we hope to open as soon as possible. If you want the facts please come here Toni. cheers" "Our technicians continue to work behind the scenes on an issue affecting one of our newly renovated spaces, the resort pool (not affecting the adjacent resort whirlpools, which are open). We sincerely regret not being able to provide you with a firm estimate on when the resort pool will open, but we hope to open as soon as possible." I would take the opinion of someone who is actually working on the ship vs someone who isn't and is doing damage control. To state they hope to have it working as soon as possible is not an answer and a deflection of the true information which is clearly they have no idea when the pool will open. And the fact that up to this point they haven't been able to get it up and running IMO tells that it is not a minor issue.
lfk60 Posted May 26, 2013 #628 Share Posted May 26, 2013 Thanks, not much of a line at GS. How about the gifts, or are they all devoured? Ummm, don't you think that request might be a bit personal?

Crusing from Colorado Posted May 26, 2013 #631 Share Posted May 26, 2013 Jackets are required in the casino in Monte Carlo. Had a surprise in the cabin today to be continued.... Nice surprse! However, jackets aren't required in the casino in Monte Carlo. I was there at the Blackjack Table in Shorts and Golf Shirt. Got lucky and left 500 Euros ahred ;)

Sargent_Schultz Posted May 26, 2013 Author #633 Share Posted May 26, 2013 The Serenity pool was NOT closed. As with any pool, there is periodic maintenance. At the airport in Barcelona.
gailjen Posted May 26, 2013 #634 Share Posted May 26, 2013 Reply from John, so feeling happier :) Hi Gail Jennings; All areas on Carnival Sunshine with the exception of the Lido pool and mini-golf are operational. The pool is expected to be ready by Wednesday. The turf in the mini golf area is being replaced. Work is expected to be completed within the next few days. WaterWorks, SportSquare, the Serenity area, including the Serenity pool, and all whirlpools on the ship are operational, as are all other public areas, including all youth facilities, restaurants, bars and entertainment areas. Sarge, Thank you so much for the pics etc. safe flight home

Not paying nearly 10 grand and kids not be able to go swimming in that heat ! I agree with you. If my kids are happy then I'm happy. Without a main pool they will not be happy. Apparently the pool will be open by Wednesday but I'm not holding my breath. Carnival are going into damage control mode with the information they are releasing. Flying Scot Posted May 26, 2013 #637 Share Posted May 26, 2013 I take no pool for June rather than my nightmare scenario of having our cruise cancelled as there's no other time we can take our summer hols and my oldest starts school in mid August. Glad they made it into your cabin, spending that much time on board means I can cash in the odd favour from housekeeping department for a delivery request! Had no idea of sizes, so played safe with large, sorry! Can be night shirts at worst!

mississauga Posted May 26, 2013 #640 Share Posted May 26, 2013 Do they come in any other colors ? I'm guessing that they can't be bought. It sounds like the crew/workers in Trieste got them them during the drydock in Trieste and Dave gifted one to SS.

RoxyPup Posted May 26, 2013 #644 Share Posted May 26, 2013 I've just telephone carnival customer service to ask the about the pool spoke to a supervisor he said the pool will be fully open by the 29th let see .. Hi Emma, we are on the same cruise, 18th August, myself, hubby and 11 year old daughter. I too very much hope that the main pool is open as my daughter gets more enjoyment from the pool than anything else on holiday. I have to say though that even if the pool is open, it looks mighty small and given that we are going in the English school holidays, I fear that it might be overrun with dozens of kids all trying to pile in at the same time. lets hope it's OK because with the heat that I expect in August, everyone is going to need to take a dip to cool off. I hope you and your little ones have a wonderful time. Gill. :)

Sargent_Schultz Posted May 27, 2013 Author #650 Share Posted May 27, 2013 Did you have any problems with your cabin? Not really. There was a VERY brief period when the water was out, but before I could report it, the problem went away. A/C, toilet, hot water, TV, phone, electricity, etc., no problems.
