If I have cellular data plan on my iPad I can connect to ships wifi and just my data plan gets charged?

If you go on line, Internet, you will be charged by RCI per minute or for a package of minutes.

All data is charged through your cell provider as is calls and text made from your phone

Consult your cell provider for international calling and data charges

iPads can connect to the rci system.

WiFi and cellular data are two different things.

If you connect to the ship's data, you will pay the ship's cost for WiFi. The costs differ depending on the ship. Most ships still charge by the minute, starting at $0.65 / minite.

If you use your cellular connection for data, you need to check with your cellular carrier as to the data costs. I know AT&T is very expensive for data at sea. I believe Verizon has data plans to make it less expensive.

Thanks, I am soooo not technical and don't think I'll ever understand wifi/data lol I truly appreciate those who do understand it lol

Daughters bf wants to Skype his mum.
Can you buy a package?
He's not using a phone he's going to bring an I pad.
And use it just for this only.

Skype might be blocked on Indy. Best to wait until you're in a port and get land based WiFi. You might be able to find a coffee shop type place that will give you free WiFi if you buy something. We did that in Tenerife.
