bttravel Posted May 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2013 Looking for seafood/pub type restaurants in St. John and Halifax. Not too expensive and within walking distance. I would spring some extra money for lobster though.
Gunner22aa Posted May 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2013 My pub of choice for libation and food is Privateers Wharehouse. Located in the Historic Properties on the waterfront and an easy walk from the ship. Very popular. I'm not sure if it even exists anymore but the absolute best lobster chowder I have ever had was at a little hole in the wall place called Mama Camiels which was right next to the Royal Canadian Navy dock yard. If a friend hadn't taken me in I would never have stopped there and would have missed a fantastic meal.
maryann ns Posted May 29, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 29, 2013 In Halifax check out the Old Triangle. Here are three pub type places downtown: http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurants-g154976-Halifax_Halifax_Regional_Municipality_Nova_Scotia.html
bttravel Posted May 30, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted May 30, 2013 I checked the web for both restaurants and both look good. I think the first one I stumble upon will be it. Oh, I did check out Cameille's and it is closed.
nybumpkin Posted May 31, 2013 #5 Share Posted May 31, 2013 In Halifax we liked Stayner's Wharf, right along the boardwalk. In Saint John we've had lunch at Grannan's (Market Square), Steamer's (right across the street from the pier) and Big Tide Brewing Company on Princess Street. Big Tide has some good craft brews, if you like to experience local beers.
