Taxi in Monte Carlo port

The taxis outside the port are about a five minute walk.

You could wait for a taxi to return to the port if you can't do that walk or maybe ask a fellow passenger to help you by having them flag a taxi and ask them to drive to the ship.

The answer to the OP is that it depends on the particular security detail on duty...and their current frame of mind. We have seen them refuse entry to taxis and we have seen them allow taxis to go to the pier. When we had a rental car we talked the guards into letting us drive through the tunnel and park very close to the pier....but this is actually against their rules. My advice is that if you have somebody who likes to walk....have them go to the taxis and see if you can get one to talk their way onto the quay (nothing to lose by trying).

hi hank

I really cannot help you with this question since we have never been on a ship that embarked or disembarked at Monte Carlo. Hopefully there will be some others who have experience in this situation.

I have read that taxis are available at the port gate. Is it possible to get a taxi to come ship-side for a pick-up? How do?

Thanks for this question, because there will be 4 of us that will need to get from the port to hotel in Monte Carlo also. Will be curious as to the suggestions on here to get there.

When we disembarked in Monaco last year, we did not pre-book a taxi. We were directed to a barn-like building where our luggage was waiting. We waited in a semi-organized line for a taxi. It didn't take long. The cabs knew people were disembarking and kept on coming.

We disembarked in Monaco earlier this year. There was a HUGE line of passengers waiting for cabs, they kept on coming, however the wait was still long. We had a pre-booked limo service arranged to take us to Nice airport and the driver met us right in front of the building where you pick up your luggage. It was pouring rain and we felt lucky to just be able to get in the car and leave.

We have now rented a car for our 2 night stay in Monte Carlo. Does anyone know how far the Hertz location is from the cruise ship. There are 4 adults so did not know if it would be easier for 1 to go get the car and then come back and pick us up. Second thought...... is that car going to be big enough for the 4 of us and all the luggage. It is an Opel Astra Sport Tourer. hmmmm
