1St Time On RCCL: Any Good Info?

Recommended Posts

This is the 1st cruise on RCCL for DH and myself. Most of our cruises have been on Carnival, which we have really loved. I have always heard lots of good things about RCCL and I'm so excited for our upcoming Australian cruise.

11 day Queensland cruise

Sailing on Rhapsody of the Seas

Booked a corner aft JR. Suite

Selected Early seating for dinner

What should I know about RCCL this is different from Carnival. Are there any tips you can give me about programs, shows, restaurants on the ship, fun activities on board, the casino, etc?

Thanks in advance for any info!:D

Royal's price drop policy might be different than what you have experienced with Carnival. With Royal, if prices drop, you can contact them and get your price adjusted, as long as it's before final payment date and the new price is not restricted to new bookings. After final payment date, no credit of any kind.

Regarding the casino, I thought I read somewhere that Carnival lets you use your room key (on board account) in the casino. If that's true, then that will be another difference as Royal only uses cash in the casino. You can get an advance of cash against your SeaPass card (on board account), but that will cost you 3%.

The buffet is called Windjammer.

The daily schedule is called the Cruise Compass.

The room key and onboard account is called the SeaPass card.

The boarding pass is called the SetSail pass.

We have also decided to book this itinerary in 2014, the Oct. 28 sailing. First time also for RCCL. We have only sailed Carnival before. We loved this Australian itinerary the best. We were waiting for some kind of booking incentive or deal or sale. We always seem to book, then something pops up other than price like upgrades or on-board credit. We too have many questions on how RCCL works. I will be watching this post.

If you have not yet booked, there is a promo coming soon Royal calls the WOW sale. It's not a reduction in prices, but it does give you on board credit and reduced deposit. You must book between June 10 and June 12.

The 48 hour price drop thing is for a booking made after final payment date. I don't believe Royal has a link to the price drop policy that handles the period before final payment date.
