DonnaK Posted July 8, 2014 Author #1651 Share Posted July 8, 2014 Off-topic... A tip for you, and please forgive me if you already knew about this... if you want to write e-mail addresses that have underscores in them in such a way that they aren't turned into links by the forum software so that the underscores remain visible, use the ... tags around the e-mail address. For example, you could have LB_Concierge@rccl.com, and it would show up as LB_Concierge@rccl.com. Readers lose the ease of clicking on the link to submit a message to that address, but the underscore is no longer hidden. Thank you Marc!!!! I didn't already know that. I'm very computer-naïve! GaNavy Posted July 10, 2014 #1653 Share Posted July 10, 2014 (edited) Since you are booked on that sailing, maybe you can use the email for the concierge or for entertainment info to try and find out???? To email the concierge, use the 2 letter code for ship (i.e LB for Liberty), followed by an underscore then Concierge@rccl.com The underscore is ONLY between the ships two letters and Concierge. i.e LB_Concierge@rccl.com To email for entertainment info: web_reservations@rccl.com Note the underscore between web and reservations. Thanks for the tip, DonnaK! Didn't know I could do that. As for John Perry being the CD on Navigator last year, I'll have to take your word for it - that name doesn't ring a bell, but the performance of the CD was totally forgettable and I don't save the copies of the Compass. There were quite a few unhappy campers on that cruise, and I think some of them laid their troubles at the CD's feet, but I had a great time even though I can't remember the guy's name. Thanks again. Miamia65 Posted July 10, 2014 #1655 Share Posted July 10, 2014 Hi Donna As many other posters say, thanks so much for keeping this list current. Do you have any thoughts who the CD might be on Voyager of the Seas when it departs Singapore for Sydney on 25 November? I looked back on your thread to same time last year and it was Luke Aerowsmith. Thanks

I have been looking at your list for many years and was trying to work out who might be available for the Australian season. We have had Casey Pelter and Jimmy Rhodes on previous cruises. Also loved both of the AMs - Patrick Richard and Frankie Portera. So it would be great to see any of these guys again OR meet new CDs and AMs. As most posters on here say, it makes a difference if the Cruise Director and CD staff are friendly and do extra things for you. On Oasis, we cruises B2B and the staff looked after us and gave us special orange dots for our seapass for the 2nd week that gave us extra benefits and priority access. Love being spoilt and its definitely worth getting to know the staff. We also bring them gifts from Australia that they can use for the trivia prizes - something different to the standard RCI pens, hats and keyrings. We usually bring koala bears and other aussie style key rings etc. We trade them with people from other countries - its so much fun. DonnaK Posted July 11, 2014 Author #1667 Share Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the kind words everyone! I actually enjoy piecing together all the information like a jigsaw puzzle, but I couldn't do it without the help of everyone who helps uncover the info Just off of Serenade yesterday. At Donna's request on our roll call I can confirm that Mercedes Lafuente is the cruise director Thanks Kim! I appreciate that you posted the info here! Hope you had a great cruise! Anyone know who will be the CD in December on the Independence?? As I wrote on the previous page, I contacted Joff on social media to ask if he knew who would be following him as CD at the end of October. I haven't heard back from him (but he has been online since then, and presumably has seen my request, so my guess is that the next CD still hasn't been assigned and Joff still doesn't know). It may be too soon, especially considering that Joff is leaving Indy to go to Anthem, so the whole CD assignment on Indy needs to be changed. Since you have a cruise booked, why don't you email RCCL and see if they can tell you who the CD will be? (and then come back and tell us). beshears Posted July 11, 2014 #1668 Share Posted July 11, 2014 This will see like a silly/strange question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. That's how I learn. :) What "difference" does it make who the cruise director is on the ship? The people that want to know this, is this because they are GOOD friends with the director or what? What is the BIG connection between the passengers on the ship and the cruise director? I've never been involved one way or another with the cruise director. Believe it or not some people actually pay attention to who the CD is and they pay attention to the activities and how they are produced. The CD is in charge of all activities and the CD can make or break the function. I you ever participated in anything besides sitting in your cabin or on your balcony you would have possibly noticed an activity that was FUN or one that was not. The fun ones are the effort of CD's people like. It all depends on how much you participate in activities or shows, shopping, games etc. It took me a few cruises to figure this out and now we appreciate all they do.(or don't do)

Beshears, we introduce ourselves to the Cruise director and staff and attend as many activities as possible. We just find it makes the cruise a whole lot better if you get to know them, they are generally really friendly people and like to have a good time and be as entertaining as possible - that is their job. They host the trivia which is lots of fun and as I said in an earlier post we trade souvenirs with them from Australia. They like to get to know people from other countries. emmy Posted July 12, 2014 #1673 Share Posted July 12, 2014 Entertainment is very important to us on a cruise - we go to all the shows and a lot of the activities On the Bermuda itinerary, during the summer, the ship is very lively! Entertainment was awesome - there are 3 production shows on a 7 day cruise featuring more talented singers/dancers, and a much larger troupe, than RCI. The singers/dancers also perform additional concerts, including a late night jam session with the lounge acts and the band members, featuring music THEY like, and not what is scripted for them. Food and service were outstanding. Plenty of activities during the day. The officers are all over the ship interacting with the passengers, greeting us as we enter/exit the MDR or theatre, etc. The crew was very friendly. I was on the same Bermuda itinerary as Donna was and I have to totally agree about the quality of the singers and production shows that sailing. Very talented. I still keep in touch with the family of one of the singers that was on the ship.:):)
