I noticed this for the first time last week and wondered about the change. I have always used my bank' s charge option as it has 0% commission on foreign currency.

If Princess can match your bank option then how and when would you claim a refund if you take Princess option?

I saw it for my Crown cruise a couple of weeks ago.

 

Personally I think if Princes are saying they will refund the difference they are almost admitting they are more expensive, and I think the trouble it will take to get a few dollars refund will be more than it's worth.

 

I will stick with letting my bank take care of it.

I took a gamble on the Crown Cruise and let Princess convert it. Only trouble is I can't find the rate they used! Don't think I kept the folio to know the US$ amount to work it out myself. I'm not horrified by the amount that has been charged to the card though.

Further to my previous post. Having taken their guaranteed cheaper option, I had expected the final Folio to show the conversion, so I would know the rate, but It did not.

As a Canadian, I always insist on being billed in U.S. funds, no matter which line I am on, as my bank always gives a better exchange rate.

We had this in 2011 on Grand. We always get billed in dollars and let bank do the changing. for us Brits it usually works out better especially if the dollar climbs compared to the. Pound,
