RCCL GS equivalent on Celebrity Summit

I am researching our next cruise for 2014, and wanted to look at Celebrity Summit as Bayonne is within driving distance. We booked a GS on Grandeur, and wanted to stay in same size suite on Celebrity with same types or perks Can anyone tell me what the equivalent suite to GS is called? Thanks.

If you are looking for size-wise, a Celebrity Suite would be the closest to a Grand Suite on the Grandeur.

A Royal Suite is much larger and a Sky Suite is quite a bit smaller.

Celebrity Suites come with some nice perks, such as butler service, afternoon tea, dining in Blu (if available, Aqua class has priority) and dinner for two in one of the specialty restaurants.

When the ship was refurbished last year, balconies were added to these suites. They originally had a wall of windows.

Damn...maybe I should have done a tad bit more research before booking on the Grandeur. I wanted to sail out of Baltimore because its only an hour or so away, and it will be first ever cruise for my wife and I with our 4 y/o son. But I am reading great things about Celebrity, and the sights sailing out of NJ.

Thanks. I will look at both options. At this stage, I am just researching in case we love our first cruise this fall. Everyone on CC tells me that we will get addicted to this kind of travel, so I thought I would spend a little time considering which ship/itinerary to do next.

Sky suite is about the same size, but with more perks - you get a butler, etc. in a Celebrity suite...

A Sky Suite is much smaller then a Grand Suite on the Grandeur.

Sky Suite on Celebrity is only 250 sq ft with about a 60 sq ft balcony

Grand Suite on the Grandeur is 353 sq ft and the balcony is alittle over 100.

As I stated above...Celebrity Suite is the closest at 467, balcony is 85

Sky Suite is one room that has both the bed and the living area.

Celebrity Suite has 2 separate rooms (a bedroom and a living room), with a door that can be closed between them.

You get a butler with either.

I was on the Summit last week....if you search further down the thread (maybe on the 2nd page by now) I wrote a very extensive review

Vision Class on RCI vs. Millenium Class on X

Junior Suite on RCI = Sky Suite 2 on X (layout very similar)

Grand Suite on RCI = Celebrity Suite on X (layout very different though, and larger)

Owner's Suite on RCI = Royal Suite on X (layout different and slightly larger)

Royal Suite on RCI = Penthouse Suite on X (layout different and much larger)

We've been in a GS on the Voyager and SS on the Equinox and have liked them both. A Concierge Suite is wonderful on RCI but on the other hand, having your own Suite Butler on X is a real treat. If you look on the Celebrity website you can easily find the full list of perks you're entitled to in a Suite. If you go on the Summit, I'd at least try to get a Sky Suite 1 because they're the ones with the larger balconies (Deck 6).

... Better not tell my wife that, THAT was her first wish list item for our first cruise, a separate bedroom.

Sounds like this is same size as OS on Grandeur. I almost booked that one, but the GS has same perks, but just a tad bit smaller and a lot cheaper. No sense paying more if you don't have too :D

Good grief, a Sky Suite on the Summit maybe the same size smaller than a JS on RCI.

Other than the sometimes annoying butler what does a Sky Suite have over a Grand Suite?

Thanks. I will look at it. There was just a post on the family forum and the woman was raving about the ship, and how much her daughter enjoyed fun factory, and that is the important factor for us - ensuring our toddler enjoys the ship and activities, because if he's not happy...

Thanks. A butler sounds interesting but is not a deal breaker. I just know that the JS does not enjoy all the perks of GS (or better), so if I am doing price comparisons, I want to make sure I am looking at something equivalent. Although when my wife hears about a separate bedroom, I think that will push Summit (or other X ship) to top of the list. And I would prefer a port that I can drive to, so that limits me to Baltimore and Bayonne. I don't mind flying, but avoid it if I can - it has become just a miserable experience. I remember when flying used to be fun.

Hi RSLeesburg, that was me. I think we've corresponded on the boards before regarding the Grandeur. At the last minute we decided to give Celebrity a try to Bermuda, instead of the Grandeur. It was a lucky choice, since the following week the Grandeur caught fire and our cruise would have been canceled.

I can help you in the differences between the cabins. We've sailed the Voyager in a Grand Suite. I think we've discussed some of the perks associated with the room on the previous thread; priority embarkation, nightly cocktail hour, reserved show seating, reserved pool seating, priority seating. All very nice and make for a comfortable cruise. Here's some pics of our GS on the Voyager, as the layout for the Grandeur is very nearly the same. The suite is an open floor plan with bed, living, and dining area all together. The bathroom was very spacious with double sinks and shower/tub combo. There was plenty of storage. The Grandeur GS is 349 sqft cabin with 107 sqft balcony.

Brenna did take part in the kids club with RCCL, but at the time she was 3yo and not quite comfortable with staying in unfamiliar surroundings without us close by. We did participate in and enjoyed the family activities that they provided, through there was not as many or as varied at what we experienced recently with Celebrity.

Celebrity Summit was a wonderful cruise for us. We cruised in a Celebrity Suite 6106, which is 487 sqft cabin and 85 sqft balcony. The suite was very comfortable, much more so than the RCCL GS. Hands down the view from this room beat any suite we've ever stayed in. Floor to ceiling windows stretch the length of the cabin. The balcony is much larger than a standard balcony, however it is small by suite standards. It is long, but narrow. It's still plenty of room to kick up your feet, stretch out, and take a nap. I sat out there most days reading. There is a small table with two chairs and foot stools. Inside the suite the living and dining area is very spacious, with more storage than you could possibly need for our 3 people. The couch pulled out into a comfortable double bed, which is where our daughter slept. There was a large flat screen TV in both the living room and bed room. My husband enjoyed getting to watch the NBA playoffs every night after DD was in bed thanks to that! The bedroom is separate and has a king bed. There is a walk-in closet separated by sliding doors that also houses a vanity area for the woman of the cabin. The bathroom has double sinks and full bath/shower combo. The bath is a jacuzzi and very large. I'm 5'9" and could stretch all the way out. It was wonderful! Also there is a window with electronic blinds between the bath and living area that can be opened so you can enjoy the view while in the bath.

The suite perks include a priority embarkation, a butler, complimentary dinner for 2 at a specialty restaurant, mid-day coffee/tea/snacks, afternoon canapés, and complimentary in suite espresso and cappuccino from Cafe a Bacio. We also were provided elite perks for our cruise (which I understand is one of the unspoken perks, but not guaranteed) which allowed us, free wash/dry/fold, free dry cleaning, free pressing, free internet (awesome!), access to all elite events (and there were alot of them!), access to the elite cocktail hour, and many, many others that I'm sure some of the more veteran celebrity cruisers could provide.

We've had butlers on NCL before, but Orlando our butler with Celebrity was a higher level of service than we have ever experienced. He met every need that we had and even some we didn't. We had breakfast in the suite twice and dinner once. All were wonderful. He brought fruit plates for DD every afternoon, simply because I mentioned on the first day that she enjoyed pineapple, grapes, and strawberries. He took care of all of our dinner reservations, pressing, everything! Without any guidance, he just handled things nicely and made the vacation completely stress-free. I sure miss him! Here are some pics of the Celebrity Suite.

Sorry for the multiple posts. This is my first time posting pictures on CC and I didn't realize you're limited to 6 pictures per post! Anyway, hope this gives you some help.

Thanks for the pics and side-by-side comparison. I am a bit torn at this stage. We have not hit final payment date for our Grandeur trip, but in looking at Summit schedule, if I wanted to change and sail on her, I would need to move up our cruise by three week. And, I am not sure I can do that. I may have to move forward with this first trip on the Grandeur, and maybe consider taking Summit next year (thinking about booking another cruise in May 2014). Our son will be starting pre-K in September next year, and we typically go to Cape Cod in August to visit family, so early spring may be best time for another big trip.
