Ideal day in Marseille ?

Hi - It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but we will be pretty much done in with sight seeing by the time we hit Marseille. Ideally we would like to leave ship and make our way to a beach, not to far away for a few hours,(yep - I know Marseille isn't the best port for beaches but hey,) then, a pleasant (inexpensive) bit of lunch with a beer / wine or two, and a few hours wandering around the streets taking in the architecture and a bit of window shopping before heading back to ship.

So any ideas out there ?

I have been keeping this page open on the ipad. It has lots of useful information on Marseille...http://www.marseille-provence.info/travel-rail-train-air-sea-road-motorways/boats-sea-ships-ferries-canals-rivers/385-marseille-cruise-ship-port.html#shuttle
