Jeeps - Rentals in Hawaii

I know this is a crazy question, but we're wanting to rent a jeep at some of the ports of call and I haven't owned one in about 10 years. Do they take the top off for you? What if it starts raining? I'm thinking of just getting a convertible car, because I'm lazy! :D

They are soft tops on the jeeps so it does take a bit of work and time to remove/replace. We rented a jeep on one island and convertibles on the other islands and personaly preferred the convertibles. I thought the jeeps would be a lot of fun but I found the convertibles would corner and handle better than the jeeps - particularly on the twisting narrow road to Hana.

When we've rented the jeeps, the company asks whether you want the top on or off. One option is to leave the top on but remove the sides. They will also take off the doors if you want.

Another advantage of the convertible is they have a trunk to store your belongings when you don't want to carry everything with you to the beach or on a hike.

:D
