Paying for Extras with Credit Card on NCL Epic

Recommended Posts

First time cruiser here, I just have some quick questions regarding payment for extras with a credit card on NCL Epic.

1) Is there a charge for paying with the credit card?

2) Does it cost more to use it due to conversion rates?

Also, how would you pay when you order like a drink or something? Do we get a card per person?

I would really appreciate any help :)

Some of our credit cards charged us extra for conversion. Some do not. I would call your credit card company, let them know you will out of the country for the specific dates. Then ask them if there is a charge.

On the ncl ships I have been on, when you check in, you give them a credit card. When you go to the bar, for example, they take your room card and it is charged to the credit card you gave at check in. My family each had their own room card.

Hopefully, someone will respond who has been on the Epic. Happy cruising.

What ever you charge on an NCL ship is in US dollars, the Epic included. There is no charge for using a credit card for your account. The only conversion rates you will be charged for is if you use you card off of the ship. As the previous poster indicated your credit card company may have their own charge rules; for example I have a card that charges a 3% conversion charge.

Hope this helps.

Have a great cruise on the Epic; a very fun ship!

Epic is same as other ships:

When you check in, you're given a room card. This serves as your ID, room key and charge card while on the ship. This will be linked to the credit card you give them at check-in. You can also put down a cash deposit or a debit card, but the vast majority use credit cards.

Your ship ID/key/card is used for everything on the ship - the store, vending machines, restaurants, arcade games, casino, drinks (soda, booze), specialty restaurants, etc. Nothing is paid for in cash on the ship except for any tips you want to give above and beyond the DSC.

At the end of the week you will get a statement showing your charges, and these will be settled to your credit card.

Hope that helps

From your question, I am guessing that you are on he Ned cruise?

If so another piece of advise is to pre-book (and therefore pay) for anything you can before the cruise. By this I mean things like specialty restaurants and excursions. If you book them ahead of time you'll save yourself the 21% Spanish VAT that is added to purchases (10% (I believe) for food and beverage).
