betta128 Posted July 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2013 We just returned today from the Splendor. Although I'm not going to do a full review I will try to answer your questions if you have any. I will point out a few things 1. Décor is horrible, should it effect your cruise...no 2. Service is wonderful. We had Ariel as our room steward, and Putra (Pooh Bear) as our waiter and could not have asked for nicer, more helpful people. 3. Layout of ship is very confusing, especially figuring out how to get to our muster station. 4. We ate all but one dinner, and all but one breakfast in the Black Pearl Dining room. All of the food was good, hot, and served in a timely fashion. 5. It seemed that the buffets would close prior to the listed times. 6. Always seats in the Rotisserie. The first buffet line coming in from the center pool, is the Mongolian Wok, if you walk back further to the next set of buffet lines you will find the Burrito Bar, still further back you will find the deli, and Tandoori, the Pizza and Grill (hamburgers and hot dogs) are right by the center pool. 7. Formal nights - there were people in nice dresses, suits, etc. However there were also people in shorts, t-shirts, and ball caps. The only place we found the dress code was enforced was the Steakhouse. They did turn people away that had shorts on (asked them to go change). 8. This was only our third cruise (two on Royal) but I didn't think there were as many, or a large variety of activities while on board. 9. Steakhouse was wonderful. Ok ask away! tee3240 Posted July 21, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2013 I was on the same cruise...yes, the pool area was packed! Could always find a chair on the higher decks. I agree, the Steakhouse was great, a must do!!
betta128 Posted July 21, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted July 21, 2013 We did Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau. Yes pools were packed, but chairs could always be found if you were willing to go up higher.
reno3 Posted July 21, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 21, 2013 Thinking of booking the Splendor, unfortunately it is PC, Nassua, Freeport. If it was your itinerary I would book in a heartbeat! I love HMC and GT (been twice). Just to vent....I don't understand why Carnival has the Splendor and Pride doing the same itinerary the same week that I want in March!
