Recent whale sightings in Turnagain Arm??

Beluga whale sightings in Turnagain Arm are a rare occurrence. Making the drive several times a summer, my last sighting was probably about 20 years ago (and yes, I do still look just in case). Part of the issue is that whitecaps and beluga whale backs are impossible to tell apart at any distance.

I haven’t seen them in the arm for a couple years now. They are like most other wildlife and have patterns of feeding. The chances to see them increase during the hooligan run around May and also during the coho run in August/September in Turnagain Arm.
