Ally be Posted July 23, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2013 Hi Darren, I sailed on the NCL Epic last year and found (after some research) that their shore excursions were expensive. After some more research I found cruising excursions, checked their prices out and was very pleasantly surprised by what I found. I did find their website a tad tedious (but I believe it has now improved) so I called them direct and found them very helpful. They answered all my fact finding questions and reassured me on pick up points and times on returning to the ship ... always a worry(!) I did a 5 port package with them for about £200 half the price of NCL and it was worth every penny. We had 3 ports of call in Italy and 2 in France, most memorable was Rome, a simply amazing guide called Suzanna escorted us through all the sights on a very full action packed day. The timings were perfect, yes we did a huge amount in one day and we were very tired by the time we reached the ship but the temperatures were in the mid 30's, all that said it was a fantastic day. In Florence/Pisa our guide was "Mama Rosa" another unforgetable guide, if you come across her you will know what I mean ... Lol Just for info whilst in Nice, there was an accident on the motorway, our driver was on the ball regarding the road delays and took a detour, we made it back to the port long before the NCL tours that were held up in the traffic chaos, another Brownie point for cruising excursions. In my honest opinion, excellent value for money, fantastic tour guides, excellent drivers and coaches and most importantly for me it was stress free ... Drop me a line if I can answer any specific questions for you ... Kind regards Ally
aquilegia Posted July 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2013 cruising excursions.com are a booking agency, they don't run the tours themselves. If you look on Trip Advisor, you will find mixed reviews about them which reflect the fact that the tour quality depends on which tour operator is being used. The problem with these booking agents (Viator is another) is that you don't know who the tour operator is till after you've booked. If you go direct to a recommended local tour operator, you will be able to discuss with them any questions (eg suitability of tour for children, disabled persons, time spent at different sites) before you actually book. samavarcruiser Posted July 24, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2013 I wouldn't use them, check it out: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1594836&highlight=cruisingexcursions Just a suggestion to read the two threads on the first page of the Tripadvisor Cruise Forum for feedback. A few people are reporting success with cruisingexcursions.com, but many are reporting being left behind and missing out on tours. The feedback is from recent cruisers. helpthejuggler Posted July 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 30, 2013 We used them a few days ago to provide transport only from Livorno to Florence and back. The cost was good and We met up in Florence at 3:45pm for the return journey. I would use them again. There is a correction to the Livorno joining instructions which I have posted in http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=39332846# I would consider using them again for future cruises.
