cavcmy Posted July 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2013 I'm looking at the NCL Gifts & More webpage in the Shore Excursion/Explore and Plan section on my vacation summary and am confused what this statement means: "Casino Chips/Tokens (LIMIT ONE PER PERSON) -- $100.00 Casino Promotional Play (LIMIT ONE PER PERSON) Promotional play may be issued in either promotional table game chips or promotional slot machine credits. Terms & conditions apply. -- Price: $100.00" Yet it asks for a "quantity?" and if I enter 5 for $500 it appears it will allow me to purchase 5. So what does the LIMIT ONE PER PERSON mean? Can you order 5/$500? If you can, are there any disadvantages to doing so? For slot machines, not table games. Thanks much; appreciate your help. ocean12ny Posted July 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2013 We bought Norwegian certificates from : http://slotplaycoupons.com/destination/Norwegian+Cruise+Line It is one per person and worked great. Loaded right onto casino card to play on slots. We brought one for each adult over 18 in our party. Make sure you pick the right ship on the webpage. calmpets Posted July 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 27, 2013 I'm confused as to the benefit of ordering these. With slotplaycoupons.com, you get twice what you are paying for (pay $25, get $50 in slot play). But with the credit through NCL, you get exactly the amount you pay for (pay $100, get $100), providing no benefit other than being out the money earlier than your sailing. What am I missing? Ilovesailing Posted July 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2013 What your really buying is an obc. However by purchasing in advance if your not taking money it would save you the 3 percent service charge for cash advance on board. If you look below that offer you will see Free Casino Promotional Table Game Chips With a purchase of $10.00, receive $15.00 or Free Casino Promotional Slot Machine Credits With a purchase of $10.00, receive $20.00 both are limited to 1 pp

Wasn't too sure how it would work out though.

I am the OP and was thinking of getting the $100x5 casino promo play for my sister as a surprise gift; already have the slotplaycoupons. But was unsure if you could get 5 since it says limit one per person. It's ok with me that I would pay for them earlier than cruise. I just didn't want to pay $500 online at NCL and then get on the ship and only get the $100 promo play because it had said "limit one per person" and have to deal with hassle of getting refund of $400. So was hoping there was someone out there who had purchased casino promo play more than $100 who could help with questions. Thanks much, Carley
PureLuck347 Posted July 29, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 29, 2013 This may sound silly, but I don't gamble often. (twice in my life total) I am wondering what you mean by promotion $. So if I went to that site and bought the 25 for 50 of say slot play, and only ended up using say part of it, what would happen? Or if I played it, and stayed even at 50$? Would this be turned to OBC? The $50 is put on your casino card, and you use it like a debit card in the slot machine, telling it how much of your $50 you would like to spend. Let's say you spend $10 on a machine that costs $1 per pull; you would need to make ten pulls in order to cycle the money through, and then you would be able to collect all your winnings in cash (technically you receive a ticket you turn in for cash). The money never goes back on the card.

What you're missing is it would mean having to bring less cash on the cruise since there'd be prepaid vouchers to get cash on the ship with no 3% charge or ATM fee. I would love to be able to get $500 of chip credit for me and $500 for my husband since we wouldn't have to travel with that $1000 in cash. We have lots of sea days on ta when casino is open. :) We'll probably take the route of travelers checks since we can cash those as needed at casino cage or front desk. Won't have to worry about cash when at airport and temporarily separated from belongings at TSA checkin.

Arubamoose Posted July 29, 2013 #13 Share Posted July 29, 2013 Are the certificates you get at http://slotplaycoupons.com/destinati...an+Cruise+Line the same as the ones you get on the NCL website. Thanks much, Carley I have tried, but was never able to buy more than one per person. You CAN buy one of EACH denomination, though, so you could buy her one $100, one $50, one $25, etc.. I would love to purchase $10K worth, but have never been allowed more than one of each per person - now I don't have to worry since Golden CAS status waives the 3% fee.. I purchased three of each for last sailing, and had to designate a different passenger name for each one upon purchase.. The certificates are in the cabin upon embarkation, in each passenger's name, and must be presented at the casino. Robin

goldmom Posted July 29, 2013 #16 Share Posted July 29, 2013 Do you have to pay 3% charge when you cash travelers checks at the casino cage or front desk? Can I put casino credit on my norwegian card when in the casino and get double reward points on my card which would mean I am really only paying 1% for the convenience of not carrying cash or do I not get the reward points when charging in the casino? tikilover Posted August 4, 2013 #20 Share Posted August 4, 2013 Can someone explain to me how the casino card works? I'm used to a "land" casino where you just put your paper money in the slot machines or on the tables. Does the "at sea" casino work the same way? Or do you have to put your paper money on a casino card? If you do have to put your money on the card, once you're ready to cash out, do they give you paper money? Or does it just show as a credit to your onboard account? Thank you! Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

Or does it just show as a credit to your onboard account? Thank you! Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app It works exactly the same as a land casino. Use the card to track your play, insert paper money. And just like land casinos, some "promotional" play can be attached directly to your casino card, and promotional play must be downloaded and played, cannot be cashed out (although winnings can be cashed out). The only exception to this is on the Breakaway, where you can actually use the card to download money directly from your onboard account, and that money can be downloaded and cashed out without play, if needed. You put paper money (or vouchers from other machines) to slot machines etc. And when you cash out, the machine prints out an voucher that you can cash at cashier. Pretty much only money that is put in to the casino card are the promotion credits - even the 1:1 credits that started this thread are given as cash from the cashier. On the Breakaway, the only ship where you can download money directly onto your card, no fee. On all other ships (except European sailings), you get cash from your account from the cashier, and pay the 3% fee when it's charged to your account. Carley I ordered those a couple days ago for my husband and me. I had to do it over the phone with a GroupEvent person since we are doing b2b cruises but only have one cruise reservation number and I wanted them for both cruises. So it had to be done manually to override the one per person. I got the $25, $50, & $100 vouchers for each of us for each cruise. I also got the two $10 promotional offers for each of us for each cruise. I think if you tried to order 5 that you would have to put in 5 different names somewhere in the ordering process.
