Computer Room on QE (Can I Download Pictures from My Camera to a Hard Drive?)

I've used the computer rooms on QM and QV, but I'm going to be sailing on the QE for the first time and I had a quick question.

 

Do the computers in the computer room have USB ports that work? I'd like to copy pictures from my camera to a portable hard drive, and I don't remember how the computers are configured on Cunard.

I believe that for security reasons you cannot do that. I take it that you aren't taking a laptop with you.

I'd doubt it, I would assume the USB ports are blocked/disabled for users.

 

I assume you want to download to a portable HDD for backup just in case the SD card gets corrupted ?

Right. I was trying to avoid bringing a laptop along ..... But it looks like I might have to.

If you are willing to spend some money (no idea how much), you can have your pictures downloaded for you. Go to the 11:34 mark in this video.

(Since you have not been on QE before you might want to watch the whole video.)

How about one of these ?

 

 

It lets your smartphone (assuming you have one) read the SD card from your camera so you can back up from camera to smart phone.

I think the idea is more for backing up as opposed to running out of space.
