creardon99 Posted August 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2013 It appears that Oceania has made the decision to avoid the conflict in Egypt. While I totally agree with them, I must confess that I am disappointed that we won't be able to go there

CRUISERTN Posted September 16, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 16, 2013 We are currently booked on the Nautica for November 2014 going from Istanbul to Dubai and Oceania has already cancelled the 3 ports in Egypt. Seems many are now cancelling their booking for this cruise because they wanted to visit Egypt. We have been to Cairo/Giza, but want to visit Luxor and one of the reasons we booked this itinerary. I think it is a little too early for them to cancel Egypt for more than a year from now, so will wait a little longer to see if they change their minds and put it back on the itinerary. If it is still cancelled at the time final payment is due, we, too, will unfortunately cancel.:(
pacheco18 Posted September 17, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2013 FYI We are going to Egypt in February (not on a cruise) I am in touch with my guide there (I met him on my May Oceania cruise (he was my guide in Luxor) and booked him privately for a 2 week trip -- we are doing it all). The situation has improved greatly (but the press does not like to publicize such good news). Luxor was amazing. I am sorry that you will miss Egypt. I think O should have given it a bit more time but perhaps they have to book ports way in advance. I bet you can get some great deals on Egypt travel. It is cheap to begin with but even cheaper now that they are reaching out to reinstate their tourism business.

Pretty much confirms what I have been told by my contacts in Egypt. Tourism almost back to normal.
