Tithonus Posted September 14, 2013 #26 Share Posted September 14, 2013 In theory, I could book a suite on a Vancouver to Hawaii cruise, if I were a complainer, file a complaint within 24 hours and continue to sail for 5 days to the first port - Honolulu. Then Carnival would fly me home for free, OR, I just ditch the airfare and continue with a land based Hawaiian vacation having just received free passage and board. It's not going to be that easy. Not in theory or reality. You have NOT read which cruises and durations are included, apparently.
Tithonus Posted September 14, 2013 #27 Share Posted September 14, 2013 so carnival tweaked their long standing guaranty and got fresh media coverage. I believe its just the start or a good comprehensive campaign to get their image up. which is good for all us , as during this campaign the prices will remain low.one mis - calculation I do believe their disdain for cruise critic will grow to. soon we will see threads ways to invoke, and make money on it... Listen here. When their pricing is so upside down, that a $35 per day cruise is CHEAPER than the daily soda package they offer, it up to the enlightened to share their knowledge with others. You're right - I didn't bother to look into it fully since it is not something I would consider - unless my room was in a non-working state for toilets/water/ac and they could not provide me with another cabin. Pine Bluff Posted September 14, 2013 #29 Share Posted September 14, 2013 The timing of this is all very suspect, right befor the raising or razing of the Carnival Corp Concordiia this coming Monday. It will make news either way.
BIG_Steve Posted September 14, 2013 #30 Share Posted September 14, 2013 Based on the wide ranging socio-economic background of carnival cruisers, I would expect that there may be a small segment who will try and abuse this new program. But also, I suspect that it is not as easy as Carnival purports it to be. I have not read the finest of the fine print for this marketing initiative, but I really doubt that Carnival is going to overly expose themselves economically with this offer. I just have a sneaking feeling that it's not as easy as Carnival says. It's primary purpose is to create a buzz and keep the Carnival name out there, which it is certainly doing. Agree that CCL put a whole lot of thought, (and then some) into this program. They aren't running a fleet to lose money. As far as abusers. I'm sure anything is possible. But are folks really going to set up and start a cruise while gambling on this program?

Tithonus Posted September 14, 2013 #32 Share Posted September 14, 2013 Very few people realize that Carnival Corp. owns Costa. Not sure how anyone would know what someone else knows, but they were quite clear on the news this morning in the Concordia segment.
