Extras on the Jewell

On the serious side, most everything can be paid by credit card or your "onboard account"......seapass.....which is linked to your credit card. It may be an excursion ( not pre booked), specialty restaurant, that bottle of Grey Goose that is pointing at you, jewelry or gifts bought on or off the ship. We always take 50 ones and ten fives for tips here and there for bartender or great service.....assuming you pre paid your tips by credit card. Best to have extra cash just in case. Lock it in the safe. You can always take it back home to spend!

This will be my first time on it as well. When I did the Oasis in April, it was my first cruise so just like any other first time cruiser (I believe) I overspent A LOT. So when my final bill arrived, I couldnt even tell how come I spent that much, I didnt do a lot of shopping on board, the only "big" thing I bought were a pair of 70 dlls shades. But well, between that cupcake, Starbucks cup, couple of drinks from the pool bar, 2 $10 shirts, airbrushed tatoos, ice cream, Johnny Rockets, champagne etc etc. Now it does look like a lot. Plus gratuities. Never went to the casino. And I didnt even go to any specialty restaurant. I booked a 3 restaurants package when I boarded (the excitement made me do it) but later I realized there was no need to and $150 dollars was asomething I could use for the islands.

Jewel does not have as many wewantyourmoney places for what I have seen. There are 2 specialty restaurants. You might spend in what, coffee, the shops on board. Champagne if you dine at the MDR (which I dont think I will go I just love the WJ LOL) Excursions maybe? I will not book any. The price is as much as double than if you did it on your own. If you want to, I think Jewel is one of those ships where you can walk away with a zero bill, excluding gratuities

Since the cruise, food and room service is prepaid, what are you willing to pay additional money for and how much is it? This is my first time of the Jewell and I'm trying to figure how much cash to bring with me.

not all food is prepaid, nor is all room service( charge of $3.95 between midnight and 0500). we will hit a specialty restaurant which can be close to $100 between the fee, extra tip( and yes it is almost always warranted) and the 'nicer' bottle of wine.

we drink so we budget for alcohol, sometimes we get a wine bottle package, sometimes we buy a la carte.

we tend to do at least one spa treatment.. might be a massage for me, might be a couples one.

on occasion something catches my eye in a shop on board.

If I wouldn't buy it at the price on land, I won't buy it on board

we do not gamble, play bingo or drink soda so can avid those surcharges.
