Overbooked Category (Group) - Question

We are a group of 8 cabins. Two cabins in our group are 4Bs. They paid the group deposit ($25pp) and not the full deposit right away. By the time full deposit time came around, 4Bs were oversold so they had to get a guarantee cabin rather than pick a room.

Will their cabin assignments be given out with the rest of the guarantee rooms? They didn't book under a guarantee rate, the category was just oversold by the time they deposited.

I would suggest that you call the Carnival groups department and ask them. Are the other 6 cabins guarantees too? The $25 reduced deposit group cabins are usually guarantees from the time of booking.

Nope. These were the only two 4Bs in the group, and that's the only category that is oversold.

The $25 reduced deposit group cabins are usually guarantees from the time of booking. If 4B is sold out, they stand a better chance of an upgrade. With prices falling so much right now, have you checked whether they might be able to upgrade for a good deal? If November 17th is your sail date, you might be able to get them a special rate since it's getting close to sail date, like a resident rate. I have seen this week some really good VIFP rates for fall sailings too. That might allow them to upgrade to a rate that allows them to pick their cabin.

Hope you have a great cruise!

Nobody knows the mystery of how guarantees are assigned. They may not know the room number number until they get on the ship. On the other hand, my friend booked a guarantee rate and was given her room number while she was on the phone. PT room.

They didn't HAVE TO book a guarantee, but if they wanted the exact same price that the 4Bs paid during the 2 week window that Carnival blocked the 8 interior 4B cabins and holds the Group Rate Quote the Guarantee Rate was probably the only fare code that equaled the 4B price.
