Hamilton v. St. George

I think I am only going to have time to visit either Hamilton or St. George. So far, three day itinerary is:

Day One: OPEN.

Day Two: Coco Reef Day. Hopefully make a stop at Swizzle Inn South for a jug of Rum Swizzles.

Day Three: Scuba Diving Excursion through RC Excursion

I would like to do a bit of shopping and sightseeing. If you had to choose one, which would you choose?

Unfortunately, many shops in St. George's closed after cruise ships stopped making regular calls there, so the selection of stores in Hamilton is far better, although even there the selection isn't what it used to be.

St. George's is probably the preferable spot for historical sites, Hamilton the far better spot for shopping.

How much time do you have in port on day one? I assume that's the day you're thinking about....and what day of the week do you arrive? There's no ferry service to St. George's on weekends. If it's a weekday you could do a little of both...say ferry to St. George's in the morning, spend a couple of hours there, then take a bus from there to Hamilton, spend some time there and take a ferry back to Dockyard.

Thank you for your help njhorseman.

You are correct, I am thinking about doing Hamilton and/or St. George Day One. That will be a Wednesday, and I believe we arrive at 8:00 a.m.

We are more looking to do some light souvenir shopping than anything else. Was wondering if push came to shove if maybe the shopping in the Dockyard would be enough for what we want?

Thanks again!!!

If that's all you want, you'll probably find it at Dockyard. IMO, the best place for nice quality, reasonable priced, sweatshirts, sweaters and tee shirts was always Davison's but last year they were talking about closing their Dockyard store.:( The Craft Market has nice things done by locals.
