Difference between casual and smart casual

I'm sailing on the Freedom next Sunday (YAY) and I noticed that other than formal nights there are 4 casual nights and 1 'smart casual' night. What is the difference between the two casual types of nights?

In actual practice, no difference.

I've never seen a distinction between the way people dress on smart casual night vs casual. Generally, people just dress casually.
